I think Dave has already gone past the point of being taken as a serious opinion on the product. Only thing he has any value is as an historian, and as crazy as it sounds his reporting is only worth a damn when it comes to WWE because even though 70% of his news is double talk nonsense, the other 30% is sadly still better than almost everybody else. But honestly, he really shouldn't be taken as anything more than a fan at this point. He's Bill Simmons with better sources.

His word still hold a lot of weight though - this thread is one more example of it - and I honestly wonder how close we are to a point of no return for him with the wider wrestling fanbase. Last couple of years he's had the N word deal, the blatant The Elite shilling, breaking his ratings system, his retarded Twitter persona and his lack of understanding on social and gender issues. Old Man Dave is getting closer and closer to becoming Les Thatcher.

This is hilarious.

How close are we to getting whole articles from him that force a stupid pop culture analogy?

Or him doing a podcast and saying shyt like "I know Roman Reigns won the match, but really.......who won the show?" :mjlol:

Also, for everyone making threads wondering how WWE is still in business, I urge them to listen to Simmons talk about wrestling. He's the average WWE fan, just with more money.

I get what hes trying to say in terms of WWE trying to look progressive but the work still looking bad but I'd have try to word as that instead of comparing it to affirmative action:huhldup:

Yeah, he tried to be slick and say that they were putting minorities and women on the desk to avoid doing actual work to correct their poor history on the fronts of racism and misogyny, but that was the worst possible wording he could've used.

I'm of the belief that you don't fukk up something that terribly with that type of verbiage unless there's some personal conviction behind those words :mjpls:

Well that wasn't a reference I was expecting to read today. :dead:

I *think* I understand what he was trying to say (going at WWE's hypocrisy about social issues; throwing unprepared/terrible commentators out to die simply because they're Black/Women/Whatever and they want to look good to that demographic) and people are acting in bad faith by reading it as (explicitly) but Dave really needs to stop putting his foot in his mouth. How hard is it to just take a second to think about how something reads before publishing it?

Between this and Alvarez's irrational Sasha Banks hatred, they're not always covering themselves in glory when it comes to racial issues.

Goes back to the Roman/cancer thing from a couple of months ago.

This dude has been a communicator for almost 40 fukking years and can't communicate a simple point to save his life without getting into trouble. At some point you run out of getting the benefit of the doubt when you suck at what you do for a living :pachaha:

I didn't read the article because I was already at my reading limit for the day but I do have to say Corey Graves and Renee are terrible

Don't get me wrong Cole is trash too but they on another level

They are the number one thing wrong with raw and SmackDown too me. At times I have to mute them because they're too fukkin annoying and that takes me out of the show.

I wonder what Dave has to say about the guy who main evented and won the first ever AEW event having worked on the first Saudi show and bragging about his crazy pay day, as well as the guy he gave a 5 star match to (Goldust), Tye Dillinger, and the voice of AEW Jim Ross also flying his Okie ass out there because they were willing to pay.

tbh booker was the best they had as far as brehs. dude was actually entertaining, but it bothered too many people i guess. :mjpls:

This, Booker was entertaining as hell :laff: I’d take him over Corey Graves any day, even though they do have good chemistry together, and Byron has really improved too, his Beast in the East and KofiMania work was some of his best. I’ve also heard people (not here) shyt on Percy Watson’s work but he was a good commentator imo, really the only black commentator that wasn’t good to me was Coachman and even he was better than Renee and Beth. Mauro is by far the best play by play guy the got, Vic Joseph is cool, Tom Phillips is a Michael Cole clone and Cole is bland.
