Of course he is. He was set up to fail though. He took Denver to the playoffs in his rookie season, which led to him never getting help through the draft like KD did. KD won what? 15 games his rookie season? Then got Russ the following year?
The best player Melo has ever played with is who? A past it STAT or a past it A.I? And led his teams to the playoffs every year besides last year which was just a disaster all around (Tyson leg break, Stat being STAT, Bargs injured, Felton Gun Charge, Woody being incompetent, JR poor play following a MARY suspension.) Last year was a disaster and he still balled out.
You got people putting AD and K-Love in their top 5s and neither one has ever made the playoffs. Yet Melo is somehow out of the top 10.
I dont know when it happened, but somewhere along the line the media made Melo the guy to hate. Bullshyt rumors like "he doesnt stick D"
that the sheeple run with like its gold . I watch all Knicks games and most of his games going back to the Orange. Melo sticks defense and is capable of lockdown, but he is generally a slightly above AVG defender.
Fact is in the West, Melo never had that second guy, and was going up against JUGGERNAUT teams like the Lakers and Spurs and Phoenix.
He got to NY and his hypothetical wingman can't even stay healthy.
With the success he's had alone. If Melo had a legit #2 option, he'd have a ring by now. Melo alone can get wins. He's proved that more than anyone.
Not even LBJ made the playoffs his rookie year IN THE EAST. Nor KD. he didnt win anything until WB developed. . LBJ didn't win a ring until Wade and Bosh. CP3 hasn't ever made it to the conference finals even with Blake and the Clip squad. Last season nikkas was sayin PG was the 3rd best SF in the league after ONE good half of a season.
No one can do it alone. At all. Melo will have his time though. Im not even worried about it.
