This sounds eerily similar to the Roseanne situation. You have a network that hires a person who they know has a moderately obvious racist history in order to seize ratings only to have this same person say or do something racist so that they can publicly fire them and appear to be this entity of righteousness It appears to me that these large corporations see the left political movement and are using tactics like this to make even more money. Nike did something similar with co-opting Colin Kapernick's protest while still profiting from having a contract making much of the NFL's clothing attire.
This almost sums up the media relationship with Trump
They legitimized him for clicks and views over every other candidate during the election
Now they have a 24 hour news cycle "attacking" Trump and acting like they've been on right side all along
They're experiment with Megyn Kelly didn't fail, it just ran it's course
She got paid, they picked up some views
