Mega Man X series

I'm about to go through and start playing/beating them. I've only played the first one. What's the general consensus on the best/worst ones?

X4 is by far the best, X1 was just classic and amazing especially for the time.

Followed by

X2
X6
X5
X3

x7 and 8.. I dont even count.

But the story was always interesting to me so playing them in order kinda mattered

Well I downloaded 4 already from psn then gonna get 5 and gonna get the rest on emulators except 7/8
