LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- The Louisville couple who killed a 2-year-old boy and severely beat his brother are being punished with more than 100 years in prison.
The judge sentenced Nereida Allen and Joshua Peacher to 47 and 70 years, respectively.
Prosecutors say in 2008, 2-year-old Christopher Allen was shaken and beaten so badly he died. His brother Wyatt had bruises from head to toe.
Allen and Peacher were caring for the boys after they were taken from their mother's custody.
Last month, they were convicted of murder, assault and abuse and today, one of the jurors sat in court to learn their fate.
"This type of thing cannot be tolerated in our community, and I think we all have to stick together," said Carol Grayson, the juror. "Whether [it's] our child or anyone else's, we all have to stick together and this case speak volumes."
