And almost a decade before that LL went double platinum, and he's from Queens :mjlol:

Stanning on preposterous levels :wow:
Breh already came in saying Jay retired after BP2 which was another lie. I pointed out to him that Jay retired after the Black Album and he didn’t even respond
:heh:

All Eyez On Me sold 5M while he was alive,
Me Against The World was #1 album in the country.

Biggie went platinum after he died...but Biggie was a superstar while alive
Nas was the first NY rapper to have a platinum album.

Word, thanks for that.

Ready To Die was double platinum by end of 1995.

Nas didn't have a platinum album at that time.

Illmatic went platinum in 2001.

And @BmoreGorilla

DMX was an emcee from struggle and major pain.

He worked hard and achieved success and "luck" young.

However with those major blessings - things he prayed for he did not stay disciplined with.

Unfortunately crack cocaine and cocaine was too powerful.

He couldn't manage it.

Long term he did not manage himself well.

But God gave him insane blessings.

He was struggling drug addict.

He was great but the lesson was refreshed.

One I learned as a kid in the 80s.

Never touch heroin or crack or cocaine.

I knew kids born in the late 80s that did not take that message.

I saw the message of why racism and drug use is evil - get lost in the 90s to those kids.

Sometimes I think millionaires want to see the poor fight and do hard drugs.

And the poor is where the heart and conscience is more developed.

We must show the kids good lessons.

The say no to drugs education from the early 80s stopped.

How was X bigger in the run up to the Hard Knock Life Tour?

X was a supernova while Jay at the time was a superstar.

Thats the best way I personally can say it. I think it really depends on which accomplishments you give more weight to. Vol 2 was the biggest selling album but X came out the GATE with not one but TWO albums that went 3X Platinum each.

Eventually.

Vol 2 was 4x platinum in 5 months.

IDAHIH took 2.5 years to go 4x plat. Took 9 months to go triple plat.

Flesh took 2 years to go 3x plat.

Jay was the bigger artist at the time.
