So Dark Phoenix is officially the last movie in the FOX X-men franchise. It'll be a couple years before Disney introduces the characters, but when they do, which characters do you think they should start out with? Who shouldn't they use? I'm thinking -

X-men: Start with Xavier and the original squad (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel) and maybe Storm/Nightcrawler. Maybe do Gambit in the sequel.

IMO they should avoid using Wolverine for the first few movies. Let the memories of Hugh Jackman fade a little bit and let other characters get some shine. Wait until at least the 3rd movie before you introduce that character.

Villains: I'm thinking Sinister would be the best since he hasn't been done in a movie yet. Maybe foreshadow Apocalypse in the post-credits since he was originally the man behind Sinister int he comics.

Probably save Magneto for later since the FOX films pretty much used the character to death.
Needs to be Jean and Scott based. Sick of Wolverine. The original squad is fine. Avengers vs X-Men. Death of X with Evil Cyclops is also good but I don't think they need to ruin his character yet again.

Unpopular opinion: Storm and Black Panther are both great characters on their own, but their marriage does nothing for me. It never really went anywhere or did much of anything for either character. If they're going to have any kind of love story involving Storm, they need to keep it true to the OG Chris Claremont run and focus on Storm's relationship with Forge. Barry Windsor Smith :wow:

Second unpopular opinion:
IMO Xtinction Agenda was mostly trash except for the Jim Lee issues, which were great. For all the crap I give Gambit, he was showing out in that story :banderas:
But still, the first Genosha storyline with the Australian Outback X-men was a lot better and more consistent.
They should have made X-tinction Agenda into a 4 or 5 issue storyline and just let Jim Lee draw the whole thing instead of getting those other guys involved. Rob Liefeld :scusthov:

Third unpopular opinion: I'm torn on Gambit. He definitely had the juice in the 90s cartoon and the video games, but he's Boba Fett status in the comics IMO and his whole existence peaked with the early 90s if we want to keep it a buck.

At the same time though, Disney knows what they're doing with the MCU for the most part. If the MCU could make us care about characters like Groot and Rocket, who's to say that they couldn't do a good job with Gambit? (I stay caping for Cyclops, lol.) A swagged out Gambit in the MCU would be way more fun to watch than the new-millennium garbage X-men characters they're coming up with today, and for all my gripes with the character, he still deserved better than what we got in X-men Origins Wolverine.

Gambit should be the Lando Calrissian of these X-men movies. They should set him up to be this swagged out character until he betrays everyone, but in the end we've gotta see him redeem himself.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
gambit whole sauve jokey persona can work with the right actor

and he does fit the tone of the current mcu

a middle between a bucky and a thor type actor

the Pepe la pew vibe he has sometimes about rogue will set off certain feminist groups though

I just want sexy rogue :noah:

sexy ass sookie played rogue and they covered her ass up :dahell:

He might be too small in stature, but Walter Goggins would be fukking perfect! I'm also surprised that Jeffery Dean Morgan has not been cast into the MCU yet, he would make a good Gambit, but there are so many characters he could play.
