Ren was always my favorite in the crew. Granted, Cube's solo work has him in my top 5. But as far as NWA the group is concerned, Ren was always my favorite. I've often wondered how his solo would have turned out if Dre and Cube didn't bounce. Matter fact, had DJ Train not passed, how would Ren's solo projects differed from how they turned out?
On another note, was reading a post from DJ Mike T of CMW fame on another forum, and he stated that Da Chill and Ren were and still are close friends. That had me thinking how I would like to see a flick or a book focusing on CMW's story, but at the same time tell Quik's story. While NWA gets more mentions, truth be told myself personally I've listened to CMW and Eiht's work more than NWA and it's alumni with the exception of Cube's early solo work. Their story along with Quik's is more intriguing to me from a street perspective. As an old school Eiht stan, I didn't begin to appreciate Quik's work until years after their beef died. In hindsight I hate that they beefed, and that beef played a role into some Death Row sh!t behind the scenes. A book or a flick about those years would be interesting to me Sh!t would be like a Compton version of Purple Rain. Red(TTP) and Blue(Tragniew) make purple.
Dude,
We Come Strapped
Even most self admitted NWA fans wouldn't recognize MC Ren walking down the street. No way in hell I would waste time including him in the trailer if I'm trying to actually make money.
You're not an NWA fan, if you couldn't.
I dunno how to put it, but the production on the 2nd album fit their style way more. The beats were more raw & gritty..and ren was rapping his ass off.
Agreed. nikkaz4Life is the best Dr. Dre album
Huh,......
How is Ren irrelevent.
he was the only real nikka in nwa, period.
Art Barr
Eazy was a Kelly Park Compton Crip.
nikka moved weight during the early '80s.
How do you think he got Ruthless Records started?
They knew it was over during 100 miles and running.
the numbers were just subterfuge for the obvious.
you were wack to even own nikkaz4life back then.
listening to that shyt was like 2legit2quit.
most won't admit it, but if you were really apart of the culture.
you know what it is.
Art Barr
Did not buy nikka4life, till 1997, just because
Stop.
I don't know what you hippity dippity rappedy rap Tribe Called Quest ass nikkaz were listening to during '91, but there was not a fukkin' ghetto in this country that didn't have nikkaz4Life bumping in ever street. I'd bet money on it. Even Raekwon shouts that shyt out on "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx".
Hell, I was a shorty at that time, that's how I heard it, because EVERY nikka in the hood had that shyt.
"Real nikkaz Don't Die" ?
"Appetite For Destruction"?
"Real nikkaz"?
"Days of Wayback"?
That shyt was Chronic/DoggyStyle/All Eyez On Me level saturation in '91.
I heard the shyt everywhere I went especially Alwayz In2 Somethin but at the same time between the tapes i had of Cube, WC + Madd Circle, Breed, Above The Law, $hort, 'Pac and CMW i was pretty set lol
EXACTLY!!!
I don't know what that other dude was talking about. Other than maybe All Eyez On Me, I aint never heard a record out of more cars.
Ren would fade Cube on the Mic then and now imo, the fans didn't get a proper response to no Vaseline, Cube dodged a bullet.
To be fair, nikkaz4Life is just them all shytting on Cube the whole record
Culturally, nwa was doNE for as a cultural rap selling act.
they became the first real rap pop act with nikkaz4life, breh.
plus, created the prison industrial economy model as well on that album.
there was a boycott on buYing nwa back then.
only people buying nwa was gangsta nikkaz in chiffon shirts and steppers with no connection to the culture.
nikkaz forget, there was a no sellout rule and the cowboy edict then.
which nwa violated and it was upheld.
to the point that was how the divide created to allow cube to become cube.
Art Barr
REally?
They were the first pop rap act?
The Beastie Boys? Hammer? Vanilla Ice? Another Bad Creation? Kid N Play? Heavy D? Salt N Pepa?
C'mon, man.
What does this even mean? As if NWA albums are the blueprint all post-Rap albums from that era.
They are.
No NWA = no Snoop, Dre, Biggie, 2pac, Wu, 50 Cent, Eminem, or anybody else who can sell a hell of a lot of records and curse a lot.
in the '80s, cursing a lot and talking about selling dope and bytches meant that you were never gonna get on radio or sell any real records. NWA are the ones who changed that. If it wasn't for them, mainstream rapper would've went in Hammer and Vanilla Ice and Kid N Play's direction, instead of toward the "gangsta".
Your mother sucks.
I know man.
Why is it getting worse and worse and not getting better and better?.
White people.
More specifically, White girls who listen to Hip-Hop to be rebellious and the
and the
who pander to their hoe asses.
