Culturally, nwa was doNE for as a cultural rap selling act.
they became the first real rap pop act with nikkaz4life, breh.
plus, created the prison industrial economy model as well on that album.
there was a boycott on buYing nwa back then.
only people buying nwa was gangsta nikkaz in chiffon shirts and steppers with no connection to the culture.
nikkaz forget, there was a no sellout rule and the cowboy edict then.
which nwa violated and it was upheld.
to the point that was how the divide created to allow cube to become cube.

First off Ren can rap his ass off. I get that he's pissed about not being in the trailer. The reality is, he was in a group with 3 of the biggest names ever in hip hop: Dr Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy E. It's hard to get a spotlight with those dudes on stage.
And for the record, I'd rather hear new music from Ren than Dre or Cube. Ren still got it, the others don't.

How much Ren coverage did they expect in a 90-second commercial for the movie? At least see the movie in full, and even then, you already know the movie is gonna focus on the main three, cause that's who most of the NWA story revolved around. If y'all wanna pretend Ren should get the same amount of coverage as them, then play ball, but...

nwa was the national jump on point for rap music marketing wise.
as a pop prospective business for the whole nation.
evident by them, being debuted on 20/20, with the straight outta Compton video.
that was banned on mtv.
Later, on nwa's marketing reach was magnified.
yet, not indicative of how they alienated the real actual culture rap fan that brought them to the dance.
since, mtv rewrote history on nwa.
after, originally banning them and having no real black pop artist Playlist or programming consistently.
to uphold it's connection in correspondence to dre and deathrow and later aftermath.
people have an inaccurate view culturally of where nwa actually was in the actual culture of hiphop.
anyone telling you after cube left nwa.
that nwa was well liked in the actual culture is a lie and was not around.
all this melding of gangsta culture and hiphop.
is all rolled over in exaggeration during and after the sales spike era.
from mtv, purposefully aiding in the prison industrial complex.
after, once being so staunch of an org.
they actually banned all nwa originally.
before, the receipts were tallied and nwa consolidated and made the commercial friendly nwa video for mtv.

I know Dre was takin' a shot at Cube, but all Ren got on 2001 was 10 seconds on some filler track...
"Some LA nikkaz" is the best song on 2001 my man. Wish Ren woulda got 16

Yeah it was some way over the top gangsta bullshyt. Without Cube their content lacked any cause they were fighting for, just advocated violence.
I will def say that Dre however rapped like a damn beast on that record. Check his bars on 100 miles n runnin...dude was hard as fukk.
And the other thing about that album, the production was insane. You can hear Dre developing his sound toward The Chronic.
The over the top violence was like some cartoon shyt, but outside of that that album was tight.

I usually skip it. I think there are at least 6 tracks that are better: fukk You, Still DRE, Next Episode, What's The Difference, The Watcher, XXplosive.It's obvious that Ren and Yella are like the first members of Destiny's Child though (in the mainstream media).

Yep I mean all of those are dope. I just love the bare bones track, the drums, and just some non commercial dudes droppin bars. Some hip hop right there.
One should never argue about taste. It's not a bad track, but it doesn't do it for me.

Yeah.
Cube was really the first rap star to have fallout on how rap biz was shady, and
NWA's rep took a hit for that.
efil4zaggiN at the time only was notable because of the outlandish content
they had to have on there to make up for Cube's absence.
It was viewed in the same vein of a Redd Fox/LaWanda Page album.
