But there were rappers and rap acts doing both. This was during the Golden Era of Rap music where the art form was being policed. MC Hammer was a R&B/Pop like act that couldn’t sing or rap. He made some hits for casuals and the mainstream and put on a great show that everyone appreciated. Hip Hop fans weren’t bumpin his music in the Walkman or in the ride.
