So we're going to lie to ourselves and act like his music and style wasn't ridiculous.

It's amazing how the backlash started cause I remember when Hammer was on top of the world. Dude had a Saturday morning cartoon and everything. But of course now folks will write revisionist history and pretend that they were never fans.

I remember people talking about Hammer so badly that these 2 CACs thought they could diss him too. It almost ended badly for them. So I understand not wanting to be around a bunch of haters.

They tried to clown him every chance they had.

Stoney Jackson went hard on this one :wow:

CB4 is still easily Chris Rock's funniest movie

Even Okayplayer? The powers that be running wild with this revisionism.

He came in the game dissing Run DMC.

This is them on Arsenio talking about, and how Hammer tried to apologize later.

Chalk it up to hip hop generational differences, but if you was wearing shell toes/pumas in 83, Hammer will forever be a clown.

Glad MC Hammer took his career path. He would've been a mediocre baseball player with the A's.

Above the fray.
Hammer looks good for his age, and seems to be doing well for himself currently.

Having said that, egos got involved and hurt this year over invites to tributes and I think Hammer was hurt to have been snubbed from a few. This year should have been a chance for recognition and revenue for everybody who contributed to the development and growth of Hip Hop.
Some of the events were poorly planned, and ruined a special moment.
