Can we acknowledge that BIRDS exist, and are often the loudest?!

Why do random women with bad takes represent all Black women?
ALSO- Why care about the opinions of obvious birds?

You hit an HBCU campus and interview those girls and see what they say about someone like MBJ. Smh
Young BIRDS

Again. Y’all do the same shyt you accuse us of doing. The young ladies on campus, in the library, at their work-study jobs, etc don’t think like these reality show birds.

You’re right not all BW think like this, but I think you’re underestimating how much BW (and women in general) care about how other women view the man they like or they’re with. Even if they don’t personally view MBJ as corny, many are influenced by their friends potentially viewing him as corny.

It's well known generally speaking black women under 35 prefer a certain "look"/ characteristics on black men. Those same expectations generally speaking aren't as important to non black women. But people love acting stupid and say it's just "black incels" making things up despite that fact people having been saying this for literally decades.

I guess now we can talk about it.

Women like men of a certain aesthetic and swag. An aesthetic and swag that black men popularized. So because of the high demand that black men have created for this image, you now have alot of black men trying to have that same type of appeal. So now the market is flooded with thugs and men moonlighting as thugs to appeal to women. Its even worse depending on the location.

Then black men turned around popularized the image of the hellhound black woman, and wonder why so many of our women want to match the aesthetic:mjlol:

Judging by that thread thecoli loves women who look more comfortable looking like whores and have a sexual aura. I dont really see the difference from women liking thugs, maybe thugs have "sex appeal" and squares dont in many womens eyes.

Pac lost his hair and his respect for women :pachaha:

Honestly, Pac's issues was that he was being too nice. We all know nice guys finish last. Pac knew he had to switch his style to gain more attraction. And it worked!
I don’t see it as deliberate switching
He simply lost respect and learned as you said

Interesting take.

For starters men have always liked whores. It makes logical sense for someone that wants to get to sex as easily as possible to gravitate towards people that exude easy sex. Women used to look down on and/or be afraid of thugs. It makes no sense for someone thats wants a stable, safe, respectful relationship to gravitate towards unstable, unsafe, disrespectful people. Thats the issue...the dudes catching hell are the dudes that benefit women and the community at large. Chicks only catch hell when they choose to chase hoodlums. Dudes in general take what they can get.

Angela Simmons has never had a shortage of dudes tryna get at her. Chicks were bullying MBJ in high school.

Lastly, while people have there varying opinions of whoredom, it doesnt hurt anybody. Nobody is being harmed or locked up over thotting. Dudes out here dying and getting football numbers tryna live up to a thug image.

The irony for many of those women is in their subconscious they are truly looking for safety and protection. For healthy individuals feeling safe begins within self. Since they can't establish that within themselves they seek it out in the most extreme, visible person. "King of the jungle" type vibe. Mind you they don't realize that their "protector" is often times putting them at high risk of being unsafe like you called out.

Because it’s a visceral reaction. If you feel weak you look for someone who looks or seems strong, however that is displayed in your world/community/culture.

Again, this is why parents have to sit with their children and get them acclimated to the current, real world. The “strong” guy/protector is not necessarily physically strong anymore; he simply has the money to remove you from a bad environment or the money to pay other men to be his muscle. You don’t automatically think that way.

Societies have to raise you with that mindset. If our culture had that mindset the hood wouldn’t even be a thing that young women have to escape, because all the young men would be competing with their brain power and that’s what the girls would be surrounded by and be able to choose from.

The hood been around for decades and poverty been around forever. A "thug" being appealing is a new thing. The stand up strong protector provider is considered lame in comparison to the drugged up, physically weaker deadbeat (see: Russ vs Future). That aint visceral that is societal. Your point about seeking strength when you feel weak is valid. But that is very often not what is happening. Just the thug appeal alone is placed on a pedestal. It used to be men in uniform, athletes, and musicians got all the women. Now the uniform is sagging skinny jeans, dreads, and a ski mask and the athletes and musicians wanna be thugs.

Popular Black culture made that the image, and a lot of brehs fed into it. And women fed into it. Just like our image was classier in the past and everyone fed into the over sexualized image of Black women. We didn’t fight back hard enough against the stereotypes for both sexes.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything but the bolded. That wasnt black culture. We always had the hood and criminals and it had a certain level of influence. But it was never the most defining aspect of the culture, let alone considered the culture itself. That didn't happen until white folks and the mainstream and money got involved. I agree we aint fight back hard enough but this is not our doing.

It wasn’t our doing— it was the media. Yes.

That was the image popularized by hiphop, although some on here want to deny it.

Yes and no. Certain aspects of hip hop. Hip hop used be way more varied. Black folks created gangster just like they created party and conscious and afro-centric. We didnt decide for gangster to be the end all be all. But to your point we did let it ride.
