The Argentine fans in attendance flew into a frenzy when Marcos Maidana hit Floyd Mayweather Jr. with a big right hand, right on the button, at the end of third round last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The punch came at the bell and Mayweather's legs wobbled, causing him to stumble back a few steps. It was the first, and only time, where Maidana clearly hurt Mayweather in their 24 rounds of fighting each other.
Mayweather recovered by the start of the fourth and boxed his way to a twelve round unanimous decision victory.
"He caught me with a good shot. It's not a shot that I've never felt before, but he caught me with a good shot. But I'm in good shape. I'm built for this. I think when I went to his body, slipped and doubled to his body - he was buying time. And we were ready to press the attack once I hit him with a body shot. He was buying time and told the ref I hit him with a low blow. He did catch me with a good shot. I take nothing away from him. Of course he is a big puncher. I don't know what his record is but he got thirty-something knockouts out of thirty-four fights. He's a strong guy," Mayweather said.
"He hit me with a good shot, I felt it but I've been here before. I sucked it up, walked to the corner, regrouped. That's part of the fight game. Of course he's not going to land shots like that all night. That's just one. And he's coming in and he's catching shots also."

. It pays to have a solid chin. I think it being near closing of the round played a part too.
