If they do get bought out Ben wants to go to a contender and has been linked to Boston I doubt he’d be an option if he got bought out yet alone if we even wanted him.

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison is having a tough week....

Dallas trades Quinten Grimes and a 2nd to Philadelphia for Caleb Martin alone.

To be clear...Grimes is younger, better, and currently cheaper than Caleb Martin...and he also gave the Sixers a 2025 draft 2nd round pick.

Another trade that makes the mavs older. Dallas is now an aging team under pressure because they will be in a must win mode situation for the next two seasons.

Nico must anticipate teams overpaying for Grimes in the off-season and he just wasn't willing to match it. I just don't think Grimes is gonna get more than 12-14mil a year which is only a couple mil more than what Caleb is getting now

This is definitely it.

Martin is controllable, at his current price. Grimes is only controllable in being an RFA.

I'm happy to give up Martin and then lose Grimes if it means getting Yabu on a three year deal.
