Both Simmons and Tobias were supposed to be 2nd options

Maxey becoming the second option, despite Rivers best efforts to stunt his growth, doesn't change the expectations that came with the deals those two players signed

George - Is he supposed to be the second or third option? Surely he was intended to be the second option on every other team that has acquired him. Surely his salary is that of a second option, not a third option.

If we look at "third options" with max salaries, there is always an expectation that they are capable of being the #1 option on any given night. It doesn't always work out that way, but that's the expectation. When Bosh went to Miami he had been the #1 option in Toronto for years. When the Nets had their big three the expectation was any of those guys could be a #1 option

Paul George isn't a Draymond Green third option. He got signed to a max contract in order to be a superstar capable of taking over games. Maybe not every game. But some games.

He's scored thirty or more points 4 times this year. Darius Garland is more productive. Austin Reeves is more productive. Demar Derozan is more productive. PGs stats aren't that much better than Mathurin.

Thats not the caliber of players he was signed to be in the same tier as.
If that's your viewpoint then I don't think we are gonna be successful at all. Why would someone want to come here to have those expectations set on them as a 3rd option only to receive all the blame inevitably when we lose because our 1st option doesn't play when we need him.

PG has also verbally stated that he realizes he isn't a number 1 at this point of his career so we knew that when we signed him.

It’s a good move because he becomes a restricted free agent at the end of the season. If we can get another role player off the books for an expiring we can keep Yabu plus we could still match to keep Grimes if necessary.
It literally has to be KJ as we planned when they signed him to that deal.

I had to research this situation

.

Bc we're over the 1st apron, we could only offer Yabu $2.8m this summer which is his Non Bird Rights exception.

We would have to trade Caleb and someone else like KJ for expirings, that would take us under the 1st apron. Then we could offer him the MLE 3/27m...A team with cap space could offer him 3/36

Looks like step 1 in #ProjectKeepYabu is complete

Yup and he’s the prototype 3 & D 2 guard you can put next to Tyrese and Jared.

He can handle the ball a bit nh and he’s not 38 years old so I’m ecstatic.

Embiid cant be moved until the summer since he signed his extension this season.

I would expect KJ to get moved and thats it.

*edit

I keep forgetting Drummond goofy ass on this roster...get rid of that nikka too lmao

Also flip EG while he's still shooting 50% from 3...
