Roy is way better than Floyd, in his prime he was on some Ali in 67 type shyt. Roy Jones made Bernard Hopkins and James Toney look like amuaturs. Not only that but Roy beat all the young black fighters. Floyd has never fought a young in his prime black fighter.

And they didn't put on 20 lbs of weigh to go to Heavyweight and go back down to their regular division past their prime. That's also why.
Immediately yes that had an impact but i think its more then just that. He lost some of his speed and reflexes, his chin wasnt as good. He didnt adapt his defensive style as he slowed down, he became easier to hit. His punch out put dropped, and he lost his power so his opponents didnt respect him

For those reasons i see Hopkins, toney and mayweather all being more similar. They all had styles that allowed them to be effective longer, that defensive shell

While none of them had the power a prime Roy Jones had, the power they did have lasted them longer

So to conclude, Roy losing the weight i do think effected him in his first fight with Tarver. But after that, no excuses Roy (pun intended)

Gaining weight at 33...losing muscle after fighting Tarver...no excuses? Floyd is never putting on 20 lbs and going down to defend a belt...he stayed in his comfort zone at 147 and 154. Ward and GGG get embarrassed by Roy...Toney got beat. Hopkins got beat. The guy who schooled Holyfield got beat.

Technically..Floyd's defense style served him longer. Prime for prime...Floyd could never be what Roy was..thats why Roy is greater pound 4 pound historically. Freak of nature. Jordan bowed to this man on that ESPN 99 special in front of Serena, Sapp, and Jeter. Roy was one of a kind.

Manny Pacquiao

Yeah, all that doesn't even measure to
Roy fighting prime Toney and BHop. 2 ATG in their prime is something Floyd has never and will never do. Simple as that.
Of the good fighters Roy has Montell Griffin, Virgil Hill, and Antonio Tarver, Eric Harding, JC Gonzalez and Clinton Woods.
On top of that he jumped up to HW and beat John Ruiz.

Floyd found Oscar, Shane the 2 of the 3 ATGs on his resume when they were shot and faded.
He fought Manny after he was beaten decisively by Marquez.
You should have really put JMM on the list.
Cotto, Hatton, Canelo, Zab, and Chico are good fights, but not ATGs, and Hatton, Cotto, and Zab weren't in their best divisions, while Canelo was at a catchweight and he was still green.

You know that right?

Castillo seemed to be up on Floyd the first fight and if you don't have a trained eye, it looks like he won the first fight....he did much more than take rounds off of prime Floyd...he looked like a winner to some. But Roy eventually broke Griffin down and had him finished.

i have a trained eye..castillo won that fight..even last year I watched and rescored 114-112 for him..roy didnt finish griffin in the first fight..griffin did something smart by taking a knee..usually when a fighter takes a knee, he is still of sound mind and just needed a breather..roy was trying to finish im..key word "trying"

Yep Floyd lost that fight and he knows he lost the fight, which is why he made the excuses and then ran it back.

U think Castillo won? See? That's wild right there..people think Castillo won..ill always say Hagler beat Sugar Ray. I don't know how they gave Leonard that fight..havent seen Lara vs Canelo but people claim he lost.

Griffin wouldn't of survived the next round..an wobbly man against Roy? Come on..it was a sad sight.

im not dealing in what if scenarios regarding roy-griffin 1..roy knocked griffin down earlier in the fight and didnt finish him..it was just a rare "off" night for roy..it is what it is

Doesn't change the fact he had it wrapped up and more Importantly is better pound for pound than Mayweather.

Haggler did beat SRL.
And Roy was destroying Montel and was going to finish him off, but he broke the rules and got DQ'd, just like Rigo should have been DQ'd last fight for hitting after the bell.

Huh? Roy really didn't have a competitive fight till he got older. Gap is wider. This was a hard to hit man..he didn't have those Judah or Castillo issues like Floyd did.
Floyd didn't have Judah issues :dahell:. Roy aged overnight BC of him moving up to heavyweight. Roy, Bhop, Oscar, Shane and Floyd were the 5 biggest fighters of that time. After Roy lost, eyes turned to Floyd and Bhop. Yes the gap was sizable at first, but by 2003, floyd had closed that gap considerably.

Hell nah...he was pound for pound in the top ten but Floyd didn't really get all eyes until the De La Hoya fight.
