Math is simply an expression of reason to organize and structure physical realities. Math is not a fact, that we can extract from the universe. It's a self-evident logic, it is reason immanent, and is one way of perceiving physical reality.

I don't find anything particularly problematic in the original post. I don't think it makes sense to say you're "extracting" anything from the universe. All we can do is represent the universe in a way within our minds.

According to the OP, yes and no. Yes if 1 is equal to a single item and two is equal to double the amount.
No if 1 is not equal to a single item and 2 is not equal to double the amount.

We have 1 and 2. In Roman times, they had I and II. so I + I = II. 3 + 3 = 6, but in Roman times, III + III = VI
