i'm not even a big Lil Wayne fan, but he's clearly a legend and some people sound crazy in here.
The amount of hate he gets his crazy.

People act like Birdman didn’t try to stop his career for five straight years when he couldn’t release music.

People act like Kendrick Lamar isn’t directly inspired by Lil Wayne and Wayne actually helped put TDE on the map lol.

But Black people always down their own artists and say they fell off, but I guarantee white people would love to see one of the old rock bands perform at the Super Bowl.

Craziness.

the point is there are people that rank lower on that spotify list that performed before Kendrick. the list is a pointless metric. And again, some of yall are talking about Lil Wayne like he was some 1 hit wonder rapper. I'm not even a big Lil Wayne fan, but in terms of AVERAGE people knowing their catalogs, Lil Wayne shyts on Kendrick.
(i'm not mad that Kendrick is performing, that's whatever)
But, it's laughable to me that some of yall are trying to play Lil Wayne like he was just some regional act from 2005 or something.

People in here like "so what, would he perform 'Go DJ', Lollipop, and 'Back That Azz Up'??? :skip:" and a bunch of other songs he was a part of....i'm like YEAH. Those songs were huge hits for an era of people. What don't yall get?

It's not a useless metric because popularity still matters in their process. When Justin, Katy, Bruno, etc performed they were at the height of their popularity. They were hot that year. They're not booking them in 2024.

You're either hot or a legacy act like Prince performing classics for the older generation. Wayne isn't either of those.

Can anyone seriously say that right now in 2024 Wayne has a bigger buzz than Kendrick?

Nah breh you're a little slow. No shyt that song is and was huge. Wayne basically did an outro and you want him to perform that at the superbowl ? Yall Wayne stans drinking too much lean

Should have complained in 2013 when that nikka wasn’t that too much on lean and could actually remember his lyrics and when he was the shyt

I rather have big freeda:dame:perform and the bounce team
I just said this on Facebook!! 2013 Wayne I can see the argument for but 2024 Wayne? The Wayne who can’t remember his lyrics and couldn’t be bothered to show up to the Hot Boys reunion at Essence Fest? That’s a train wreck waiting to happen.

okay?

Katy Perry #30-performed
Beyonce #34-performed
Usher #73-performed
Maroon #25-performed
Justin Timberlake #86 performed

Spotify ranking don't really mean anything. Sometimes it's about your body of work. Lil Wayne has that.

Those artists also dont struggle to sell out shows like Wayne does... Wayne is constantly on GroupOn, for 2 for 1 deals and shyt. His last tour 2 years ago was 3,500 capacity venues, and he still struggled, few canceled shows..

I keep tellin yall, Wayne been irrelevant for a good 5-6 years now, and his music aged poorly.

Some of ya'll really live in a bubble if you think Kendrick Lamar is more marketable for a global event than lil fukking Wayne. :russ: Like seriously. I bet some of ya'll think Ja Morant is more known worldwide than Lionel Messi. :russ:
You wylin breh. 3 Kendrick albums have sold more copies than every wayne album combined.

It's 2024 breh, Wayne is not relevant like Kendrick is. Furthermore, what songs does he have that are Superbowl safe?

Back that azz up is a cross over hit. Just like baby got back by sir mix a lot. Its one of those records you could hear anywhere across all demographics even at corporate parties and functions. White folks loved Bling bling and plenty other hot boys records too so Wayne could easily bring them out for a few songs if he did the show. Cash money had the early 2000's on lock mainstream wise. Those frat boys who listened to it back then are the middle age NFL fans today. Folks really understating wayne and cash moneys popularity.

Man, woman, and child
Why folks bringing up Wayne being a junkie like the Super Bowl hasnt had junkies perform before?
:what:

That being said Kendrick was the better choice. It’s all about ratings and more people gonna tune in to watch Kendrick than Wayne.
