More updates:
First guy that not a lot of people are talking about is Ben Christman----big offensive tackle that really has made a move as of late. Scoring very highly on the written exams as he is extremely intelligent--but making some moves on the offensive line with his play. Very powerful at the point of attack and moves extremely well for a big guy---one to watch going forward.
Another name on the offensive line that hasn't gotten a lot of notice has been Enokk Vimahi--just so strong with his hands, he just moves people easily and walks defensive linemen out of the box once he lays hands on them. Not sure he can break into a very deep offensive line room, but I like Enokk a lot and so does the coaching staff. Was one of the top graded offensive linemen the last two weeks and is absolutely in the mix for playing time.
Steele Chambers was a surprise to me at running back the last few practices and scrimmage. I would have thought that he would have been moved by now, but he keeps making plays at the running back position---and is holding onto the ball a lot better than last season(knock on wood). Scored very well on the written exams so he has a complete command of the offense---just needs to get his opportunity---but has been a big surprise to me this spring.
Young defensive lineman that no one is really mentioning is Darrion Henry-Young. Highly regarded coming out of high school but has been fighting for the opportunity to play---but has really found his stride as of late. Gotten noticeably stronger than we he first hit campus---but has managed to maintain his speed and is super disruptive along the line. I like him a lot. Keep an eye on this guy
Another guy who has totally transformed his game is Ty Hamilton. Great bloodline with his brother but is making his one mark here as a high impact defensive lineman. His body transformation was something to behold this winter--but he is making plays every scrimmage---and graded out very well in this last one and continues to climb the depth chart.
Last but not least is the new starting center Luke Wypler. Has made a huge move as of late and pushed Matt Jones to the back up spot. Luke is such a driven kid and is an amazing example of what sheer tenacity will do for a player. No one will outwork this young man--and he is going to be a very special player here at Ohio State. Got the top grade on the entire offensive line at the last scrimmage and is putting a hammerlock on the starting role. I expect big things from him this fall---even with Harry Miller back at it.
