This is the South so chances are there are locals in that neighborhood who own guns, but even if he encountered someone who had a gun what good would it do if he shot them first?

Latest I heard is that he is still "contained". This tells me that the young kid is white. White mass shooters get arrested alive if they don't kill themselves. I live out in Garner, not too far from Hedingham/Neuse Trial where the incident occurred. About an hour ago, I heard helicopters buzzing overhead. Also, today's incident is also not too far from where the other cop was shot and killed last month.

You've got to have the training.
The gun ain't the answer. But I don't know, I've seen so many fake tough guys at the range and in classes...I'm just surprised no one with a gun and training either assisted in armed evacuation, or attempted to engage the shooter.

Violent crime is up in Raleigh, which has a well-earned reputation as one of the safest big cities in the country. That just tells me the city, the county, the state, and the local branches if The Feds are gonna go all in going forward on cleaning up the streets here...
Anybody out here running the streets gonna get targeted, they not about to let Raleigh turn into somewhere else...
