Based on the marketing, no.

Based on playing it, no. It adds absolutely nothing to the trilogy.

Aint Andromeda Mass Effect 4 though?:what:

Martha

Nah, it's Andromeda. And if people treated it like Andromeda instead of ME4, it wouldn't have been as poorly received. There was a lot wrong with the game (technical issues, Asari faces looking the same, etc.) But it was a spinoff and should be treated as such.

Mass Effect needs to be remastered to re-introduce the public to the game ala Resident Evil 2.

No one wants a Andromeda 2 or even Mass Effect 4.

Lowkey, I want them to slowly remaster the entire trilogy, pick a cannon ending and release Mass Effect 4 in 2025.

I want them to figure out how to fix what ME3 did to the Mass Effect universe and make a proper ME4. The fans don't need to be reintroduced, the fanbase is still there. In fact a remaster would likely sell poorly and might make the suits nervous about investing in a proper ME4. I can play the OT BC on my One X if I want to relive the series heyday. I gave Andromeda a shot, but after they fukked that up I won't buy the next game unless it's a real sequel. I think most fans are at that point with BW.

Sort of but not really.

It takes place in the same universe but doesn't directly relate to the original story. Of course it seemed BW wanted to link the Andromeda Initiative to the Reaper threat, but it was only hinted at and even then it doesn't continue where ME3 left off.

Maybe Bioware shouldn't have marketed it as such. They told us this was the new trilogy.

The problem with that (and I know we're always arguing about this game) is; a "spinoff" was able to cause the entire brand to be put on hold, indefinitely.

There's not even any news on there ever being another Mass Effect game.

Great point, but, the only way to make a proper Mass Effect 4 is to address a cannon end to the Reaper War.

I don't want any of this "600 years" later stuff. I don't even know how you'd properly built off Andromeda, it was so bad.

Yeah they wrote themselves into a corner, but they need to solve that ending. They should have taken the out the community gave them with the indoctrination theory. I trust Casey Hudson though... for whatever reason.

The tease he did on N7 day made me think that they're working on it.

Two things;

  1. The Indoctrination Theory was only accepted as a coping mechanism. In a vaccuum, that would've been received twice as bad; ":damn: So, we played a 3 games and 100 hours and the trilogy ends in Shepard's head :damn::damn::damn::damn::damn::damn:???"
  2. So....the IT is cannon....where do you go from there? 50,000 years later and you play as another race and try to heed the warning of the last cycle?

When I saw that Bioware rehired Casey Hudson I knew I wouldn't be purchasing the next Bioware installment (Anthem and beyond). He and Mac Walters can't write as well as they think they can. They destroyed the original trilogy.

3. Since Shepard is indoctrinated you can go back in time a bit before the Starkid makes an appearance since you already know how things go, and all that takes place in Shepard's head. You can go in a number of different directions, I think that the reapers *should win* ultimately, but Shepard and company lay foundation for the next advanced society to beat them. The Andromeda Iniatiative could even play a part.

ME is Casey's baby, he has to be motivated to fix the series.

On ice indefinitely. Once Anthem work is done they're gonna be ramping up development on DA4 which is about 3 years way. If Anthem is succesful they'll probably double down on that instead of fukking with the ME name ever.

If Anthem is a big failure. Then I imagine anything Bioware got in the mix will get bushed with the studio going in a body bag.
