Puff didnt manipulate them, he took advantage of them being young, desperate, and impoverished. Unfortunately that is the way of the world. It takes a special person to even be able to think long term when their immediate situation is so fukked up; when you have nothing and have had nothing your whole life and your mother probably never was even able to pay rent on time, $20,000 probably feels like ten million. But when you fast forward years later and realize how much you could have or should have you are pissed and feel ripped off, especially since you know the person who offered you the 20 knew what it was REALLY worth. But is that really scumbag shyt, or is it just business??

The same reason people love the diddy’s and Birdman’s for the lavish lifestyle, the flair, the entertaining quotes and bravado is the same reason we’ll turn around and hate them. This is how they mostly get their money (more so diddy ) ,they had it done to them and they are paying that debt forward to their artists who have to carry that burden.
I’m not tryna pocket watch but when it comes to other labels that are black owned who’s execs are not as flashy as the diddy’s and them you don’t hear these same stories as much , you’re more likely to hear a situation where the artist complains about not being able to release an album or not having a big enough budget. With that said soon enough they’ll be a thread where we clown Master P for talking about ownership and supporting other black folks.

That is a blessing but it’s also limited because a lot of these outlets and platforms shareholders are major corporations who have that since my great grand daddies and them had enslaved 1800 Africans money or that old Hollywood mob money.
The corporations have a super head start and you see how they flex their muscles all the time with how these outlets “upgrade” their product and the new regulations they’ll put up.
