I enjoyed this episode a lot but I've never liked Karli and I thought a suped up John Walker should've easily dog walked her. I also wished they would've stuck with him being a heel. I was fine with Sharon Carter being Power Broker but I feel they should've revealed that in her first appearance since it was a twist that the longer it went on the more obvious it was and would've given us more time with her.

This was a good series. Good balance of action, drama, politics. It pushed the marvel universe storyline along and addressed real issues going on today. They introduced the new Captain America almost perfectly. They showed his conflict and addressed the racism issue directly.

I'm glad they fleshed it out and didn't try to squeeze all of this into a movie.

its crazy how they basically reversed the story from the book with this series.
you know, in the book he was given the shield off rip!
and immediatley had to deal with the "being Black Cap" bullshyt out the gate!

this shyt, they flipped it.
Like, Sam knew.
in the back of his mind this was gonna be problematic. and THEN meeting Isaiah just renforced that feeling like 10 fold!

this shyt was dope.
at first i was lil tight cause it was only 6 eps.
but now i feel like i can go back and rewatch this without feeling like its taking too much of my time.
plus find some shyt i mighta missed.

MARVEL gang we in this bytch ONCE AGAIN!!!

It seems like the realized that they found gold with John Walker/Wyatt Russell midstream and decided to keep him around for the future but it was executed clumsy especially with Bucky just all of a sudden partnering up with him at the end.
I believe all the Elaine scenes with Walker including last weeks were done post production after they realized they needed to keep him around and what a waste his wife was, did she really do anything other than maybe being Black?
They set up the Thunderbolts but I don't think it would work with out Sam and/or Bucky included in the show. It just needs to be the main plot for Season 2.

To me this was a great lead off branch to the spy/political/grounded marvel universe, falcon almost seems like the new iron man now more than cap, he’s like a combination of the two between his suit and how he acts. Glad they went full 100% comic with it.

Wandavision was the branch leading into the magic side of marvel.

Loki will be the branch to space/sci-fi branch of marvel

My only nitpick is they could have added another little end credits scene to tease secret invasion or something.

Sam and Bucky knew John was really trying to do the right thing and wasnt as bad as we perceived him.

Plus when you're getting your ass beat by a bunch of other super soldiers you wouldnt turn down help from one

i cant front. they nailed Sams costume!
and it didnt look like how you know sometimes they take comic suits and pull them right from the books and it looks corny?

it looked cool. authentic.

imo
It really did.

I would've been pissed if they put Sam in something like that suit Captain America wore in the first Avengers movie.

Overall dope finale.

I WILL say they severely fukked up by not giving this series 8 episodes or even 10. This was a decent series that had ALL the tools to be an instant classic but they stuffed waaayyyyy too much into six episodes.

I didn’t care about Karlie at ALL. The flag smashers as a CONCEPT is excellent, but the execution was lowkey trash. They didn’t have enough time to really make Karlie a tragic or even sympathetic character. She just came off as a whiny hypocritical brat. Even villains who are hypocrites need the right amount of character development to make you at least understand their humanity. We didn’t get that Karlie. They never even explained why SHE ended up being the leader. All of her followers were legit looking at her like:dahell: half the episode and I was seriously expecting the Asian dude to turn on her after she sprouted that weak ass “One World” slogan.

If they were going to condense the series to six episodes then Zemo should’ve just been the main villain because we already know his backstory and can understand his motivations.

I really liked how they gave Sam the respect he deserved when embracing the Captain America mantle. The part where he saved the senators in the falling truck was AWESOME and I had to rewind and watch it twice.

I also liked the juxtaposition of Walker trying to help and failing while Sam tried to help and succeeded. Showing that the INNER strength of a black man was worth more than the super physical strength of the white man.

The series also did a great job showing Bucky and Sam becoming genuine friends. I like their chemistry.

The conversation with Isaiah gave me all the feels:wow:. That final shot of him getting his memorial was outstanding. You can TELL a breh wrote that shyt. Excellent

John Walker also got the shaft due to time restraints. In my opinion they didn’t even do a good job of showing him as a super soldier. He was pretty much the same to me except now he could properly fight the flag smashers but they STILL kicked his ass.

And didn’t the government FORBID him from wearing the uniform? Why wasn’t he immediately arrested after the battle?

I LOVED the Captain America And The Winter Soldier title card at the end, that was a nice touch. Its also a big hint that we’ll be seeing a season 2 which if they get a proper episode count for i’ll all in.

Overall i’d give this season a 7.5/10. I’m convinced with 8 episodes it could have been an easy 10. But it is what it is
