Disney+ Ousts Netflix from Nielsen’s No.1 Spot with ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’

Disney+ finally took the top-ranked spot away from Netflix for the week ending March 28 with the help of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The MCU series got 628 million minutes of streaming time, beating out Netflix’s top original of the week The Irregulars by more than 200 million minutes.

It’s interesting to note that there are currently only 2 episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier compared to the other rankings on this list that have anywhere from 8 to 40 episodes and above.

“This level of viewing minutes was about 6 or 7 episodes in for WandaVision – they’re shorter episodes admittedly – but still, a very solid opening for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier with only the opening weekend of episode 2,” said Brian Fuhrer, Nielsen’s SVP of Product Strategy.

Netflix’s Ginny and Georgia came in at third place, followed by Who Killed Sara which got 363 million minutes across its 10 episodes. The Spanish-language series reaches more than one audience since its subtitles have options for multiple languages, no doubt boosting its popularity among demographics.

As for Acquired TV shows, Netflix has a robust library of shows with multiple seasons that always dominate the popularity chart, and this week was a clean sweep. NCIS lead the pack with 725 minutes streamed over 353 episodes, followed by Criminal Minds and Greys Anatomy. The only non-Netflix TV show to make it on the ranks this week was Solar Opposites on Hulu.

Netflix’s new release Bad Trip topped off the movie side of things with 308 million minutes of streaming time, followed by Yes Day starring Jennifer Garner. Disney+ made two appearances on the list with Moana in the No. 5 spot, and Raya and The Last Dragon at No.7. Raya is still under a Premier Access paywall of $29.99. And Amazon Prime Video’s Coming 2 America made got bumped to No.9. While its 154 million viewing minutes is down considerably from its 1,413 million minutes of viewing time from a few weeks ago, the sequel to the classic Eddie Murphy original is holding on to a spot on the charts.

lol at Walkers shield getter trashed.
Sam's Cap suit should be more tactical. it looks too clean and fresh, kinda like Steve's first suit did.
over time Steve's suit looked more like functional gear rather than just a costume. not saying that Sam's shyt isn't practical, it's just to crisp.
smh at the Flag Smashers fading away like a fart in the wind.
do Sam and Bucky still work for the U.S. government?
who exactly do they answer to?
lol at Carter going completely rouge talking about flipping whatever comes her way.
side note: i watched the Agent Carter series a while back, the chick who plays 1940's Agent Carter is a dime.
her rack is otherworldly.
Isaiah lifting that big ass tree pot though...he is still strong as fukk.
i was hoping to see him in a fight scene as an old timer or as a flashback.
it was nice to revisit NYC, I was hoping for a cameo from a local street level hero like Luck Cage.
the fight scenes with Sam could use some work, he consistently wildly misses with his kicks and there is no need to constantly be doing flips.
i really like how Sam incorporates the jet pack in hand to hand combat. it reminds me of how the Mandalorians use their jetpacks.

all in all, i really enjoyed the series.
bravo Marvel.

Notice he got most of the "hero" scenes. Saving hostages. There were Spider-Man x Superman scenes pushing the police truck.

He definitely could have had better fights, but seemed like he really didn't want to fight anyone including Batrock.

Harder to fight someone when you understand their cause and their why. Sam is, at his heart, a counselor and therapist. He's the guy who decided to start a vet group when he came home. That's not the guy who actively seeks the the battle; he wants to heal more than hurt.
