I do believe i’ve read that the Super Serum formula does indeed slow the aging process though i’m not aware of how drastically it does in the comics.


One of the reasons Sam became Captain America in the comics was because Steve had the serum drained from him and he increased his aging rapidly

Given all the downplaying of Sam's credentials in the MCU's past, one of the best ways to sell Sam being Cap as a logical outcome would be to

have Sam beat/kill some super-soldier - hand to hand. Namely Walker (if he gets powers and goes nuts), TFS (but they might be good guys) and above all by ending Bucky (if Bucky goes bucky-wild again). That would be the way to redeem Sam's side-man status. Take down a rogue Bucky by himself.

even then some people might have reservations about the acting, but in-universe it could work.

That would be impossible. I mean, when Batman fights parademons and wins, I can suspend believe because it's a cartoon. But live-action, nah. Hand-to-hand combat with a super soldier would be too unbelievable. At least for me.
