Harvey Smith is the Creator/Director of both Dishonred games and Prey.
Harvey Smith

Dinga was credited as a designer on Dishonored 2.

He was Director of some of the Wolfenstien games.

Obviously both studios work collaboratively.

But again. The Creator and Director of the Dishonored series is not working on Deathloop. By his own words he’s working with the Dishonred and Prey team on Redfall.

And again………

That art style would make sense for a steampunk game or some shyt. Not something like Blade. shyt need to look like DMC 5 or something. Im interested nonetheless though

In the 90s this was the case, I think now and after several failed wolverine movies its ironman

Logan was the only comic book movie equal to the dark knight in the fans eyes.

You're thinking I terms of movies, but Wolverine is definitely a top 5 most popular comic book character.

Definitely top 5 for sure, Logan did really good for them Below Ironman 3 but successful nonetheless.

You both make valid points but, yea, there is a difference between critical acclaim/fanboy noise/etc, and popularity.

X-men are super popular in their habitat. But the elephant in the room for the x-men since the 90s is that theyve been suffering from big fish in a small pond syndrome.

i.e., Logan is seen as Dark Knight level, but ultimately:

  • Dark Knight Rises (3rd film in the series) did 1.1 billion. DK did 1 billion
  • Ironman 3 did 1.2 billion
  • Sam Raimi Spider-Man 3 did 895 million
  • Logan (3rd film in the series) did 620 million. The prior Wolverine movie did 400m total.
The X-Men had 15 years of movies with their own branching cinematic universe and several well-received movies + beloved actors (Hugh Jackman, Pat Stewart, etc), yet their popularity in the comics never carried over to mainstream movies like that.

Even games like the 1993 X-Men game, as legendary as it is perceived, was the 16th highest selling Sega Genesis game. Not bad but not mind blowing. X-Men Legends sold well across PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube, but was just the 74th highest selling game for that era. Again, not bad but not mind blowing.

Now all that may change for this generation with the Insomniac and inevitable Disney stimulus (tho they’ve been mid lately) but time will tell.

Logan was rated R, it's not fair to compare it to the Disney family movies. It's the highest earning R rated film ever.

You can't judge popularity off movie earnings alone, Xmen has gotten mostly bad movies that the fans hate, which reflect in the earnings. Both amazing spiderman movies under performed, mainly because they weren't good movies, and spiderman is the most popular marvel character.

Tbf, I can compare it to Deadpool 1 & 2, both r-rated and both easily outperformed Logan to become the highest earning r-rated films despite being a lesser known character. And then Joker, also r-rated, which grossed 1 billion. None of the aformeentioned being Disney family films.

The ASM movies underperformed relatively yes... but both still did higher than any Wolverine movie or any pg-13 x-men movie iirc. I'd also disagree slightly and say while X-Men had mostly bad movies at the tail end of their cinematic run, in real-time they had several well received films early on, undeniably. No matter what movies it's compared to or excuses we come up with, Wolverine was simply received as an ok/solid IP by the masses. Which is still good, but obvously not in the Batman/Spider-Man tier, and definitely debatable with the Ironmans, Caps, BPs, etc when it comes to modern day youth (and not the granddads who were teens in the 80s)

I do agree with you 100% that you can't judge popularity just off of move earnings, but for how long have ppl projected the x-men's mainstream popularity based off a 92 cartoon show and some 2 dollar comic book sales from an isolated neckbeard industry? Maybe it'll translate with Insomniac, given their track record, but i think it'll be just as much bc it is Insomniac, with all the bells whistles and budget they'll put into it.

Spiderman and wolverine are

#1 and 2 when it comes to superhero popularity out of the marvel camp.

Spiderman is top 3 worldwide, wolverine might be top 5 worldwide

Edit imo

1 superman
2 Spiderman
3 Batman
4 wolverine
5 hulk

This was the game of the show for me, and they didn't have show much because I feel Arkane Lyon is a studio that can deliver. I think my only worry will be combat because the way I envision a blade game would play similar to DMC, but I am intrigued to see what Lyon does with combat. It does suck that this is most likely far out, but its on my radar.

Western developers aren’t on the same level as the Japanese. When it comes to character action games but hopefully this game is at least on. Og GOW or DmC reboot’s level of combat and quality.
