It's mildly similar to batman/Spiderman, since it has the whole two-button finisher thing and a lil bit of a counter system in effect, tho not as leaned on as much as those games (it's there for sure and seems to have possibly even more counter options than either game, but you totally could play w/o it just fine, unlike those games). The variety of upgrade system shows promise to be more extensive than either of those games tho.
Ioenno why you would bring From Software/Nioh type games into the discussion. World of difference of game types.
If you are playing on normal you can probably mash your way through most of what I've seen outside of some enemies and bosses that require you to duck in and out or fly or counter and break guard.
The counter and dodge system is pretty neat as it very much depends on the character. Some characters want to dodge more than counter and others have great counters and typical dodges.
Ironman I find particular cool as his counters are pretty meh, it's AOE which is nice but his dodge upgrades help him out way more..
Also the fact that he has a rocket tree, laser tree, and another tree that all preform super different and haveihave different weaknesses and strengths is super dope.
