It's mildly similar to batman/Spiderman, since it has the whole two-button finisher thing and a lil bit of a counter system in effect, tho not as leaned on as much as those games (it's there for sure and seems to have possibly even more counter options than either game, but you totally could play w/o it just fine, unlike those games). The variety of upgrade system shows promise to be more extensive than either of those games tho.

Ioenno why you would bring From Software/Nioh type games into the discussion. World of difference of game types.

If you are playing on normal you can probably mash your way through most of what I've seen outside of some enemies and bosses that require you to duck in and out or fly or counter and break guard.

The counter and dodge system is pretty neat as it very much depends on the character. Some characters want to dodge more than counter and others have great counters and typical dodges.

Ironman I find particular cool as his counters are pretty meh, it's AOE which is nice but his dodge upgrades help him out way more..

Also the fact that he has a rocket tree, laser tree, and another tree that all preform super different and haveihave different weaknesses and strengths is super dope.

So I actually like the game alot, but it's because of the combat and the attention to detail of how the characters would behave and move in combat.

My biggest gripe about the games are.

-story

Feels very wanna be, I guess what I mean by that is it's trying to serious and cool while trying to be superhero and funny.

Comes off really cheesy, also I just don't really care... They don't make the story very interesting, it's a theme that even non comic book fans have seen more than a few times.

- LOAD TIMES

As someone that's playing the game on brutal and dying alot the load times are atrocious, hope that gets cleaned up.

The rest of the game is great outside of some glitches here and there.

Combat is deeper and better than Batman or Spiderman and that's just with a couple skill points used and basic gear.
The story is not sequential in the beta. The opening mission is the start then it just jumps to something else much farther along. That's now how the story would really flow in the real game.

I kinda figured that might be the case because it felt very "off"

Yeah, I peeped that the counters are pretty nifty and unique per character, but they definitely aren't as integral to the combat as Batman games are or Spiderman. That's not a bad thing either which way, just that they're way more essential to the flow of combat in those games than here. You can definitely rely on them well here if you know how to use them, but you can also just get by well enough on higher difficulties with your other combat techniques and dodging. In Batman, you're practically forced to play a counter based game, which suits him tho.

Bu Bu Bu Bu the game looks wack that’s what the smart dumb idiots in the Arcadium told me :mjlol:
To be fair, it did.

If the whole beta played like the intro level - this would be bargain bin status if anything. There's a hell of a lot of GOOD game that they didn't even highlight and still do a crap job at selling.

Its basically a working Marvel Anthem.

I see BP being in the game much later like you said they're going to treat this shyt like Destiny.

I will say that the guy whose youtube clip i posted earlier, just made another vid talking more about BP based on what he datamined. key takeaways:
  • he said "Wakanda" is a region in the base game.
  • he said that of all the discovered unlockable heroes, BP has the most stuff programed in the game (move sets, hero cards, leveling system, etc); implying that he's the furthest along in development.
  • So his theory is BP will be one of the phase 1 characters alongside Hawkeye, and may be an NPC in the main story given that Wakanda is a region.
But of course, dataminer discoveries =/= official announcements.

I knew this game wouldn’t be trash you can tell from the videos. Now is it RDR2 no but you could see that this game would be fun to play

Facts. There's really no reason, that in 2020, after running more than one stream to promote the game, that someone should be going into a beta three weeks before the game releases to get an idea of what the game actually IS.

I mean, I get that they couldn't come out and say that this is effectively a fully modernized Ultimate Alliance from a traditional third person perspective, but they could've done SOMETHING.

The wild thing is, I still don't really know "what kind of game it is"

Is it a solo experience focus game with multiplayer... A Multiplayer experience game with solo content... A living game that is more so consistent on going gear and level grind?

I tried explaining to my sis what the game was and couldn't.. is it an action RPG? Beat em up?

Who knows.... I pretty much labeled it as a action rpg much like division.

It's almost as if they are scared to label it as that because they feel like it's gonna scare off people.

I think they're trying to duck expectations placed on other GaaS games like Destiny and The Division. That's part of why I'm not jumping in on day one. I need to know what the end game grind loop is like.

Action-adventure seems simple enough to categorize it as. Don't really see how hard that is to either define or realize that that's what it is and always was.
