At the end of the day making this a looter gaas was a bad move on CD part. They obviously don’t know what they’re doing. If they rework the game over the next 6 or so months then it might be better but there’s so many fixes and improvements to be done idk if they can pull it off

Guess it will come down to whether Square wants to salvage this or not..

but yeah a looter gaas was a horrible move.

Like breh said.. this should have just been a high end ultimate alliance

Just ordered a physical copy of this game for under $20, ready to play it on Series X when the update drops next month. :banderas:
With that said, it was obvious they dropped the ball by making a GAAS and not GOOD Single player game.

How do you get the chance to develop a game for an IP at it's absolute all time peak of interest coming right off what, two
billion dollar movies back to back and instead of making a game where people can experience that in their living rooms
on their game consoles....you make a weak/wacker version of Destiny ? Not only that but you damn near mirror the situation
with Anthem ?

I'm going to play it on the SSD, enjoy the awesome graphics and story line but I'm also going to have to deal with the reality
that the servers could be turned off and I'd never...EVER be able to play the game again.

The single player story mode was actually pretty good tho. A tad short (roughly 10 hours), but good.

this is a different problem set from Anthem. Where Anthem had everything into multiplayer from the start - Avengers didn't even start multiplayer until late in the development

The SP is fine. But one of the biggest things that bodied Avengers was that you literally couldn't connect to other players for weeks unless they were already on your friend's list. There's no way to kill an online population faster than having no functional matchmaking. Then when they did get it working, all the end game content worth doing was to be done solo. And further, you can't even have duplicate heros in the same party so shyt is inherently fractured there as well. If someone wants to play nothing but x character, or x character is more popular than others, people will have harder times finding games.

Monstrously dumb :mjlol:

The SP campaign is aite. The solo multiplayer/post-game experience ain't bad either. Its just easy to do everything and once you're done you're done. There's no raid, no boss rush, no endless horde mode, no pvp or pvpve, no real functional hub that forces player interaction and competitive measuring, no stat trackers, clans, etc

all that shyt was an afterthought. and it wouldn't even be hard to slap that shyt in there with some new enemies right around the next big movie drop and bring people right back either since its not subscription based

I think the general gaming public at large has kind of moved on. People saw it, wasn’t anything special now they’re looking forward to a new Batman game.

breh i don't need reference the larger gaming/marvel community as a whole to speak critically on shyt i actually played :russ: all those generalizations don't mean shyt against the fact the game literally didn't have working matchmaking and there is no better way to kill a multiplayer component to a game than not allowing people to play it. that makes sense right? should check out with everyone.

the sales itself were never the problem. the sustaining component? completely gone. and the same way that games that just keep themselves on a sales platform blow up years after their initial release is very much a factor - especially considering people still talk up marvel heroes like it wasn't a shytshow at launch but continued to build itself up and piggyback over every marvel/disney release til it was shutdown.

they're more hurting due to their failure to monetize cosmetics and other shyt than the actual release itself - and that doubles back to the overall investment and long term projections attached. a game built to feast off MTX and doesn't? that's far bigger problem than any of this other stuff you're talking about.

At the end of the day, we’re saying the same thing. Regardless of what the game failed to do when it was originally planned, the point is they are in the hole on it, severely. All the extra shyt about monetization, and RTX doesn’t matter. What matters is whatever the game was made to do didn’t click with it’s intended target, and it would take a severe clean up and marketing campaign to fix it.

The user base is gone, so how do you think they’re gonna get it back, with more DLC characters and a story mission? shyts over

no we're not :dead: the fukk

You’re saying they didn’t sell out the gate because XYZ and I’m saying they didn’t selling out the gate for ABC. The only real difference is you’re saying they can eventually turn it around if they fix XYZ but I’m saying ABC is still present, therefore no one cares

no. i said that sales out the gate weren't the problem. and they weren't. those initial sales went off a cliff the moment the multiplayer/GAAS issues became obvious

it sold 2.2 million its first month and was only behind FF7R for SE when it comes to online sales - what people are doing late and lazy is taking "didn't recoup development costs" and coming to the conclusion that it didn't sell at all. people point to dwindling online population when again there was no working matchmaking or anything resembling a whole multiplayer component.

the cash sunk into avengers was as a long term project and obviously they're not making that shyt back if they can't create an environment that keeps people attached for MTX :dead: initial sales, no matter how good they were, ain't fixing that unless they came out doing GTA numbers. those same takes from kotaku are from estimated projections over _____ time as well. they didn't even bother running the numbers on their own story
