Alot of Atkham stans don't realize that all the openworld freerunning/wallrunning gliding type stuff Batman can do is thanks to us fleshing it out way back in Spiderman 3.
Arkham series, Infamous, Mirrors Edge, City of Heroes, etc. All that floaty in the air running and diving stuff comes from us (Activision) doing Spiderman and having the idea of adding cool shyt to do in the air in between webslinging. Inspired by another Activision property (Tony Hawk) the devs realized there was no reason to limit a players control merely cause they were airborn. So aerial tricks and combos were added. Then wall running became our version of what manuals were to a skateboard to keep combo strings going if your aerial landed you against a skyscraper. This eventually became complete control of your character in the air, full fluid aeriel travel... not a static animation like Superman with the arm out.
Its crazy seeing this video now, but this is being showcased in this vid cause at the time this level of openworld freeform travel was cutting edge.
Now its cookie cutter. In modern day games this is just the norm now. Back then it was inventing the wheel basically.
GTA 3 invented the road, we invented the wheel, and now decades later all openworld games are GTA if you are on the ground Spidey3 if you are in the air.
And altough the graphics are obviously way better decades later, somebody at DC needs to be fired... cause travelling as Batman is still not as a game 10 years old. It doesn't even look as fun. Thats a damn shame. DC is still using those static animations 10 years after we show them you can do more.
No inovation.
