There's nothing wrong with being progressive; arguably comics were one of the most progressive artforms; but they're twisting the source material so much it's putting off the core fans and Disney is so stupid they're targeting audiences who really don't care about comicbook movies.

Contrary to what people think about me, I want to see non-white, non-male, non-straight characters in entertainment story media. However, not at the expense of a good story. 'Girlboss'/'Bad Ass' Chick characters are usually forced and lame and even women don't like them. Race/ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation swapping is just lazy writing.

Not true. But they undermined Rhodey by having him shape shift into a female skrull. They start with a "male gaze" scene of the female skrull in the shower and when she gets out it's Rhodey in the mirror. They were purposefully trying to agitate men.
