The best news coming out of this is the Doctor Strange 2 title and Tony Leung being cast as The Mandarin. :ohlawd:

Such an out-of-nowhere casting too considering that Leung has been laying pretty low for a decade after being all over Hong Kong cinema in the 00s.

Marvel really fukking up the Black Panther thing. 1st they clearly and completely underestimated how successful and popular it was going to be. then they didn't have a plan in place to have another movie, let alone a trilogy like the other LEAD MCU hereos(Ironman, Thor, Captain America) got in a timely fashion. we really gotta wait FOUR fukkING YEARS??? :heh:

and on top of that, we finally get a HUGE blockbuster BLACK male hero and the 1st thing some folks want to do in the 2nd movie is replace him with a woman. :francis:
BP only came out last year :gucci:

Feige said their aiming to introduce a new franchise every year so they've got like 11 or 12 movie Franchises to juggle now (that we know of) excluding Ironman and CA as those have been phased out. Disney + shows as well so it's now gonna take longer to turnaround sequels. If we're getting a new franchise every calendar year then fukk it, i'm eating :feedme:

And BP isn't the only one that has a four gap between sequels - according to the schedule there's four years between Ragnarok and Love & Thunder, Doctor Strange sequel is over 4 years and Guardians is about 5 years due to James Gunn fukkery. I don't see CM2 dropping until 2023 if they're looking for that International Women's Day slot again. Only Spider Man is getting turned around quicker because it's Sony not Disney and it seems like 2 years between sequels is part of the deal.

Relax.

Marvel train ain’t stopping anytime soon. :wow:

As for the Black Panther gap, this was kinda of expected though. When they announced those dates with one being Feb 2022, I always assumed it would be Black Panther 2. MCU has too many characters now, and Coogler doesn’t need to rush and can focus on other things.

Paper Boi in the MCU :whoo:
Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau :ohlawd:

Mahershala Ali as Blade :wow:

Shang Chi looking lit and gonna do bits in China :mjlit:

Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek in Eternals :shaq:

DS multiverse fukkery :banderas:

To be honest could've done without Black Widow and Thor 4 as would've preferred them completely phase out the all the OG Avengers and establish the new players or bring in new Franchises but by all accounts, Black Widow looking like a hybrid of Bourne and Kill Bill and loved Ragnarok so I'm here for all this shyt :feedme:

That was only part one as well :picard:

Still got Phase 4 announcements for BP2, GOTG 3, CM2, X Men and F4 which could possibly be at D23 and a motherfukking cross over event :blessed:

No wonder DC fell back :whoa: :russ:

Feige said that. He also said that Coogler will be turning in his outline (this was a month ago) probably around now or if he hasn't got it already. We've got history of him writing a script from August to January with the 1st movie.

If he can't finish the script in time....then move the date :dwillhuh:

Studios do it all the time. Marvel has changed release dates before.

Oh and I forgot Jon Watts made Homecoming in 2017 and Far From Home in 2019.

Its not a big deal to me....just healthy discussion :hubie:

If Coogler wants to do another project thats all good. Who wouldn't want to see more work from an excellent director. Thats a legit reason to wait on him. However, there has been no movement on that other movie. MBJ has moved on to other projects as well.

I just think the simple answer is they didn't want Doctor Strange or Thor to go 5 years (6 for Strange) since they're first film (we don't count the first two Thor movies.)

Doesn’t make sense to put in a date that Coogler may not be able to make - they’re juggling 11 or 12 Franchises now - if they move the date for one they have to move the dates for all which logistically doesn’t make sense. And they’re not just working around Marvel properties - they’ve got to coordinate around other Disney properties like Pixar, Star Wars, live action, animation as well as the Fox IP just brought in, the dates of which are pretty much set in stone up to 2025
