Tbh, the first two Avenger movies didn’t do her (or Clint) any favors.
They gave audiences mixed-signals on who she was involved with, without ever committing or allowing chemistry to build. You’d think it was maybe Clint after Avengers 1, or Steve after Winter Soldier, but then in Age of Ultron they bush both (giving Clint a whole ass family) to pair her with Banner just so they could have someone feel sad when he ditches them for space by movie's end.
i think they should've just shipped her with Clint after Avengers 1 (no family for Clint) and done a joint movie or bare minimum build on their bond in AoU and henceforth. Or alternatively, ship with Steve (imo the Russos set a great foundation for that in TWS), continue with it through AoU, Civil War, then have her movie occur during that period before Infinity War when they were fugitives.
