Which MJ he didn't specify :hula::mj:

No I'm talking about his character bruh that was a fukking dikkhead straight up always acting like a piece of shyt and then it's always "Give Me Love":martin:
:pacspit:

Nah, I think a more selfish show/character was actually Will Smith on the Fresh Prince. He was supposedly the nice guy type but didn't allow his supporting cast to be on the same level of funny as he was on a consistent basis so the show ended up not being as funny as Martin's show to me. The best sitcoms of that era usually featured great comedic ensembles and the leads on shows like that have to be unselfish enough to let others shine brightly too and Martin's character on the show did that. Living Single did that as well.

Cosby Show is probably the best objectively the best black sitcom, though

Edit: Wait, seems like you're talking Martin's character being a dikk like MJ... carry on...

Carlton, Uncle Phil, early Aunt Viv, Geoffrey, Hilary, and Jazz all shined on a consistent basis on Fresh Prince. :gucci: The only character that didn't shine consistently was Ashley.

They weren't as funny as a supporting cast than Martin's supporting cast. That's mainly why the first Aunt Viv left. Writers were told to focus on Will. It was an okay show but (to me) not on the level of Martin.

Not at all and season 5 was proof of that. Pam Tommy and cole couldn’t carry a episode to save their life, meanwhile Carlton and uncle Phil was doing it on the regular by season 3

I can't agree. Fresh Prince had one of the GOAT supporting casts. Will was a first-time actor coming in green as hell. If he wasn't backed up by the massive amount of talent surrounding him, Fresh Prince would have crashed and burned. And to add to that, Will became an even better actor as the show progressed. By season three, his comedic timing was A1.

Fresh Prince was a very important sitcom. It obviously wasn't as edgy as Martin, but it was still controversial when it came out. Its comedy set the tone for almost every black sitcom that came after it. There are jokes I've heard on shows that can be traced back to Fresh Prince.
