just watched the vid
I'm glad he did not say it outright and I understand his attempt at a rhetorical salvo but he overdid it
Palin is just not to be taken so seriously, he should have left it at calling her a dunce
but there are other issues with Bashir's comments
1. There is the pre-meditated choice of that particular scatological vignette, which though gross is not the most horrific from the annals of the history of enslavement. As they say in the world of comedy, he went a really long way for that punchline.
2. There is his choice of black enslavement (there have been other peoples systematically enslaved), the romans were documented to be particularly horrific to their enslaved persons. Just once I would like to see a media person flip the script on that and expose slavery as the global and pervasive problem that is has been an continue to be. I reckon that he could have found plenty of 1st person anecdotes of young eastern European girls getting sold into sex slavery.
