They're both outrageously stupid, selfish, entitled acts. If I walk around waving a pistol with the safety off and in one situation my finger didn’t slip on the trigger and accidentally shoot someone but in another situation it did, the stupidity of the second situation doesn’t absolve me of the stupidity of the first one. We have no idea if Lynch came close to clipping someone on the road, skipping a curb, or veering off into oncoming traffic and was just lucky enough to not end up in a vehicular manslaughter situation.
If you get behind the wheel of a vehicle inebriated and you're driving it to the point that you get arrested, you're doing nothing less than brandishing a gigantic weapon in public. There's no debating that.
