Some groups actually did try to get it cancelled early on. The head complainer was some woman that the show later made fun of. Recolter or something like that. Their response was "lady, turn the channel."

It's one of my favorite shows EVER. It always has been

They made a joke about it with "Peas in a Pod" i think (or maybe Psycho Dad) where Marcy mentioned "some woman in Michigan didn't like it, so it got canceled..."

Yup. Toaster leavuns lol. I think that was one with Moye & Leavitt cameo. They were in the elevator when Al was pitching shows

He was a spy I think. There was also that episode when the Cubs owner knew Jefferson’s secret. He asked Al for info on him, there was a $50,000 reward on him.

Jefferson plays it off like it was all an April Fools Joke he set up, but the owner gets killed at the very end and it’s implied that Jefferson ordered it.

That episode she was complaining about was hilarious. So much different than everything else on prime time TV in the late 80s
