Rappers really need to sample more 80s hip hop for those that own their masters.

That Kanye check Marl spoke about needs to be discussed further.

that was probably THE biggest takeaway from that whole ep, apart from the rich history of QB Hip Hop. Marl said that check changed his life. Own your masters brehs

Kane changing the way rappers rhyme due to Raw. I had to really think about that...He's absoluly right.

That shyt he said about familiarity and how the brain already likes a song. So true.

What Marly was saying about EDM and how thats the wave to jump on....I said that years ago and to see Cheif Keef now doing EDM.

I wanna know who that artist was that overdosed on coke in Marlys bathroom.
:lupe:

That shot who took about so and so said he didnt make such and such records.....He was talking about Eric B. I caught that.

But that jewel Marly dropped at the end about the elements to make records work and how u gotta make the people wanna be you and like u. :whew:

Dope episode

I'd guess and say G Rap. He had a coke habit at one point.

And he was a producer...the money back then must've been shyt....but those dudes were never doing big numbers like that anyway...the east coast back then called the west coast and the south "slow and country bammas" but they brought the real $$$ to hip hop...no way a cat like Marly Marl shoulda needed a check from Kanye to change his life....90s east coast hip hop may have kept it real but that kept them broke

I'm playing the Symphany on Spotify and I noticed something....In this interview Marly said he wasn't into gold chains.

:patrice:

So I guess he was just doing this to fit in the times.

Speaking of Mr Magic

This is bringing back so many memories!

What's crazy is, in 1986 everything changed. The rap styles, the ways of dressing, and even how we talked! Only two years apart, but so different!

Everything we do now really originated in 1986, the years before that seem like ancient times

Of course!

People want to like the rich guy. Rap is still the same way, you might not like wearing jewels, but wearing them will help you get them sells, until you transcend "rapper" status

Man Marley was eating back in the late 80's, early 90's

He did LL Cool J's come back album, he had a deal with a major label(forget which one), and he did production for major artists

Remember, money got you more things then now due to being worth more, so Marley was getting it, he probably just burned through it, not realizing rap was gonna change, and new talent would take his spot.

I forgot Marley produced Young Gifted and Black, (even though Kane shouts him out) :snoop: one of my favorite beats ever to this day.

Anyway, I just went to the Long Live the Kane wiki to confirm he produced it and was surprised to learn that Kane produced himself on that album.

He did Pimpin Ain't Easy (my favorite record on the album at that time), Smooth Operator, and Warm It Up Kane :dwillhuh:
