It might be true that Cuban has somme negative connotations with blacks. But even so he still hires nikkas and makes them millionaires and gives them freedom they wouldn't otherwise have. He;s the best of the worse and I wouldn't unnecessarily badger him. Just let him think what he wants and play ball. Cuban is a better billionaire owner than most billionaire owners. I bet even Jerry Jones has skeletons in his closet.

So this nikka Cuban gonna be intimidated by some skinny skateboarding black kid wearing a hoodie while he's walking down Rodeo drive at 12:00 Noon or some shyt? :dahell:

I mean make some sense idiot, how about some context with this nonsense.

Matter fact, I doubt this dude Cuban is walking down any streets where he should be worried about any black person he sees.:aicmon:

Exactly. How is he still scared of a black person when he has billions and probably big ass security guards. Let's just be honest here. He is just using that black kid in a hoodie example as a way to hide is real racist and prejudice views. Maybe he doesn't think black people are worth as much as whites or he doesn't want to see more black billionaires. You never know with guys like him.

Cuban is trying to defend his bigotry.

Where are his fan club members nwo?

He's using those little white supremacist tricks too: "Whatever makes you feel threatened" as if the opposing party doesn't have a legitimate claim to defend their autonomy.
bruh there is no trick...you can listen to what he said and tell what his point is.
Yall are jumping to the racist thing because you assume everyone is racist.

The world is not black and white.
I defend Cuban the same way I would defent Rev Wright, Ice Cube (AMW/DC), Farrakhan etc...

Calling someone racist because something they said makes you feel a certain way is ignorant.

How are we going to confront the problems in this country if nobody can speak their mind?

There are half a dozen different threads of thought in this thread that people are getting mixed up, and it's not even worth it to try and untangle the mess.

One of the things evident is why Cuban has incurred the wrath of the commissioner as an owner, and paid inordinate fines. He can't shut the fukk up, ever. The issue at hand is the NBA is trying to bring a swift and clear end to a public relations nightmare, and no one needs to know Mark Cuban's views on the commonality of bias among humans nor who provokes him to cross a street out of fear/ignorance. There are times when, in service to a larger cause, you shut the fukk up and get done whatever needs doing. Silver has to be looking at this dude with a mix of :beli::merchant::sitdown:.

In a way, I appreciate him being such a self-important blowhard, because that might keep the larger conversation going.

how hard is it to clarify the statement with some context?

if i put a hoodie over my shirt and tie as i walk into the office on a chilly morning while it's dark i should be fired because i look like a thug? he said black kid aka young looking person in a hoodie induces fear of being criminal/ignorant.

imma let mark explain himself because he's doing that typical white racist thing as it comes to black people they don't know. Ya know how white people get comfortable and then say you ain't even black/like other black people at a certain point....aka they had some reservation about you being black until they found out you were cool.

i'm sure he can be best friend with any verified black people like the nba players, celebs, and business partners and is not racist at all. But how does he view random black people?....and now we know. it's like apartheid in which I have to be deemed acceptable in order to conduct my life!!!

Bonami is/was going in. but u and i both know he only scratching the surface. He probably shooting his guns at about 75% because he is gainfully employed by ESPN.
Bomani agreed with the general sentiment. He even agrees that Sterling should not lose his team. He's just harping on the one part of an example.

And let's be real here: black people, especially older women, give me the dirtiest looks at night like I'm going to rob them. "Racist" white people aren't crossing the street these days. They keep their head down, and hope for the best. The same people "outraged" by this, are the same ones who would be on guard if it were them. This isn't even close to Jesse Jackson's footsteps quote.

Real talk tho, what can you do to Cuban but fine him? the majority of the 1% do think like him.

for some reason, regular people don't get how the people in the top tier of wealth think when it comes to regular people.
You are right the majority of the 1% share his views and you could increase that percentage further to include some other folks in other tax brackets. So what could the average person do to "punish" a very resourceful person, no special order

- Join local and national organization that address this discrimination/stereotyping/racism culture
- don't forget what they said and the comfort with which he said it, always hold it against him because he is a well educated man who chose to embrace those views
- apply what he said and the realization that his billionaire colleagues feel the same way, to your reasons for being outspoken and non tolerant towards discrimination/stereotyping/racism towards blacks [not people of color]
- find his businesses, make sure you don't support. I'm rooting against the Mavs despite liking Dirk and Vince
-remind black folks who are doing and/or about to do business with him about his views, notice I did not say non-blacks
-consistency says more than flip flopping, so any black person and non-black who defends him and do business with him should also be the target of protest/held accountable/not to support

so being intimidated by a black person hooded up in the middle of the night is racist?

and why are we harping on the hoodie? you understood his overall point.
Do you not assume certain things about white people?

Point is, there's nothing "sensitive" in showing how Cuban is wrong, why it's wrong and where else it shows up. You simply don't want to have that conversation, opting to go for dismissive like "sensitive" or "big deal" and other labels.

Watch your next post do exactly that.
Like Tariq Nasheed said, these tactics of deflection/labeling these topics as being beneath them are common among cowards. Clowns who have their own ulterior motive which includes somehow indicating how they are not like a typical black person in someway

One of my friends on FB (a black man) made a status talking about how Cuban is awesome for his honesty", and after pointing out what was really going on with Cuban's comments and his comparisons to neo nazis, he relented and thanked me for the enlightenment. A white guy, not feeling what I was saying, tossed the cape on for Cuban and went on a rant defending Cuban.

I went on his page and see these comments back in December in regards to Marcus Smart's interaction with that fan.

"Shocker...a black person losing their temper and taking a cheap shot/sucker punch. Never heard of that before."

Surprise, surprise....

he said an article of clothing makes you a potential criminal when it comes to blacks! a random piece of clothing at that.....which doesn't even represent a group/organization/gang...hahaha!

he didn't even mention specific neighborhoods, any gangs signs, gun flash, staring him down, other articles of clothing etc.
