no, this is an issue I care about. and I don't appreciate you telling me to stfu

Sorry friend but you seem to be trolling here.

I was making a point that the Justice Department/FEDS has leeway on what it does or doesn't do in terms of enforcing Federal Laws.

For some reason it chooses to enforce these drug laws, even for something as minor as cannabis, but neglects more serious things.

This is troubling.

I don't think they're "neglecting" more serious things. in fact it seems they're active in making sure those more serious things aren't pursued (not exactly how I would define "neglect")

I just don't want to sidetrack the thread by getting into the administration's rationalizations for things other than marijuana

I have no doubt that CO and WA are in for a battle. and honestly no one knows how this will all turn out. but I'm pretty sure not much progress will be made if no one believes in it

Bring it On: Battle Looms with the United Nations Over Pot Legalization

November 21, 2012

Source: Michael Krieger

A couple of weeks ago, following Colorado and Washington’s historic vote to become the first states to legalize marijuana for recreational use, I wrote a piece titled Colorado Legalizes Marijuana: Your Move Eric Holder, which subsequently went viral. At the time, I had only anticipated a battle with the Feds, but now the most useless and corrupt organization on the planet has weighed in – the United Nations.

The head of the UN drug watchdog (the International Narcotics Control Board or INCB), Raymond Yans, has come out in a press release essentially instructing the Attorney General of the United States to enforced Federal Prohibition of pot against the rights of the states to implement a law that is not only Constitutional, but a perfect example of a free people deciding what they want for themselves.

Perhaps that is why the United Nations is so panicky about the legislation in Colorado and Washington. The organization consists of a bunch of global government craving control freak bureaucrats, and as such I welcome this battle as an opportunity to marginalize it further and expose them for the undemocratic creeps they really are. Anyone remember the massive corruption within the UN’s Oil for Food Program? I wouldn’t let these clowns shine my shoes let alone decide what every citizen in every corner of the planet can put into their own bodies. From the UN press release:

VIENNA, 15 November (UN Information Service) – The President of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), Raymond Yans, has voiced grave concern about the outcome of recent referenda in the United States of America that would allow the non-medical use of cannabis by adults in the states of Colorado and Washington, and in some cities in the states of Michigan and Vermont. Mr. Yans stated that “these developments are in violation of the international drug control treaties, and pose a great threat to public health and the well-being of society far beyond those states”.

He went on to further state that for the international drug control system to function effectively, to achieve its aim of ensuring availability of drugs for medical purposes while preventing their abuse, the conventions must be universally adhered to and implemented by all States. In this regard, Mr. Yans stressed that national laws, policies and practices in drug abuse prevention and control should be fully aligned with the conventions.
The INCB President requested the Government of the United States to take the necessary measures to ensure full compliance with the international drug control treaties within the entire territory of the United States, in order to protect the health and well-being of its citizens.

The full press release is https://www.incb.org/documents/Press_Releases/press_release_151112.pdf. It’s one page, I suggest you read it. Such an intense concentration of hyperbole, panic and propaganda could only be created by the United Nations.

:rudy:

Great threat to public health? Disregarding the benefits of its medical usage and the detriments of unprohibited use of alcohol, which literally does nothing good for the human body? Why do these fakkits even have jobs, if just to talk about controversial topics and sit on their hands...

whatever. they're always getting involved in this crap

International Narcotics Control Board - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In April 2003, former United Nations Drug Control Programme Chief of Demand Reduction Cindy Fazey penned a scathing review of the Board, accusing it of overstepping its bounds[6]:
Unfortunately these individuals also see their role not only as the guardians of the conventions, but also the interpreters of them as well. In their annual report they have criticised many governments, such as Canada for permitting the medicinal use of cannabis, Australia for providing injecting rooms and the United Kingdom for proposing to downgrade the classification of cannabis, which would entail less serious penalties than at present. These criticisms go far beyond their remit, and indeed it is hubris to criticise the Canadian Supreme Court.

Just smoke your herb. Its readily available everywhere in the U. S. and if you are a true head you should already have delivery on deck. Your only obstacle is drug tests, but if you are that committed to trees, you should have your own hustle.

What you gonna do Obama? :usure:

No more worrying about being reelected, and we know he was at least for decriminalization back in Chicago (not sure about legalization). If the Obama administration starts going after people on this, then they shouldn't be surprised when young voters leave them and start voting libertarian.

Doesn't even have to be a bill...

This dude can literally put out an executive order(he needs to take advantage of that executive order perk btw) with a snap of his fingers.

In order to decriminilize it. Its not like anyone's saying he has to legalize it. How hard is it to just say "While I dont agree with it morallY(even though i did it myself), everyone should be able to excercise their own personal freedoms".

The feds are going to do the same thing to CO and WA that theyve been doing in California. Nothing about the fed policies will change anytime soon. It will take a lot more than 2 states to change things. It's a good first step though
