Marianne is Netflix's new best orginial horror series. Easily tops Hill House.

First episode I almost bushed it. Glad I kept watching. :wow:
Yeah, I almost shut it off with the whole skin bag and lady hanging herself.... She didn't get arrested or committed to a mental Institution. Then, She got into the building at 7 am with a noose and shyt on the third floor... It was a bit ridiculous and stupid. I get it... It was supposed to drum up interest in the most overkill way possible. Then, the whole parent fukkery. Episode 1 was Hella extra for no reason. When they have that somber (calm before the storm) moment and bring in new characters in episode 2 or 3. It was so well done and that's when the story kicks into the binge mood goodness.

Pawgs with dragons
Binged the whole thing yesterday. I really liked it. It's definitely a more traditional horror as opposed to the prestige/elevated horror that has been coming out(which I'm a fan of). The supernatural entity is not ambiguous and there isn't any symbolism or hidden themes to unpack. It's just straightforward, yet subtle enough, horror. There are jump scares but they seem purposely telegraphed and aren't used as a crutch in lieu of actual suspense. This show is definitely creepy and unsettling, but never truly scary. There are a couple times, especially early on, that the use of humor kind of takes away from the established tone of the show but it never lasts too long and gets back to being creepy pretty quick. The characters are all likable enough, though I can't say I had a ton of remorse or sympathy for what they were going through.

The biggest gripe I can see some people having is with the explanation of the supernatural force in the show and its connection to the main character. Didn't bother me though:manny:It's not seeing Haunting of Hill House or Hereditary for me, but those were my two favorite horror productions of the last few years. They planted seeds for a second season but I don't think it's necessary.
