nikkas forgot. Floyd was pretty much done with boxing after he beat Oscar. He only fought Hatton because Ricky brought international money and fans into that fight. Hatton was also creating buzz by KOing Floyd's toughest opponent (Castillo) with a body shot in a fight that was pretty hyped up. Remember they had both fought on the same card. Hatton fought Urango and Castillo fought some other nikka that wasn't too experienced at the time (forgot his name). Hatton was also running his mouth and shytting on Floyd in interviews. He said Floyd came dressed up as Russell Crowe (dressed up as a Roman gladiator) against Baldomier and ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow :mjlol:

He legit made a case for that fight so Floyd took it and gave him that work. After that shyt Oscar wanted the rematch and was going to do it at 147. He fought Forbes I believe at 150 on regular HBO (:ohhh:that shyt is unheard of now right?) Oscar didn't look all that good either. Forbes I think swelled up his eye too. Floyd threw the rematch in the bushes and I think this is during the time he had that press conference where he was crying (yeah this nikka was really crying) about not being respected and how the media doesn't give him enough credit and that he's done with the sport.

Margarito/Cotto eventually happened and Oscar was saying he would fight the winner, but when Tonio won and won big. Oscar changed his tune and picked on this lil Fillipino guy that was buzzing and dominating the lower weight classes. He made him jump from 135 to 147 and ended up draining himself and getting beat so badly he retired and we all know the rest after that.

Present time. Floyd will fight Chino again. The fight makes sense for both of them. No other opponent has the credentials or the buzz to make 800k or more people order the ppv. Even if Canelo KO's Lara in the 3rd round that isn't enough since his schooling is still fresh in everyone's mind. Khan can't fight in Sept. Porter gotta fight Brook and Thurman needs a lil more exposure. Garcia ain't coming off an impressive win an hasn't fought at 147 yet.

If we don't see another Floyd/Maidana fight neither one will prolly fight again at all this year. I don't wanna see a rematch so it's :manny: for me anyways.

I rather see Chino fight Khan or Broner again, but he seems to be off that shyt. I rather Floyd just wait until Thurman or Porter build a lil more steam and make themselves more available to fight.

100% on point. Excellent memory

The fact that he walked away from an Oscar rematch says it all. Mayweather was no longer interested in boxing.

Oscar's matchmaking really backfired on him. At the time, everyone believed Oscar-Pac was a joke, but it turned out to be the kind of fight Oscar was trying to avoid. A past his prime Oscar vs Margarito at 154 would have been fire. I never thought he was a scared of Margarito. I just feel when a fighter gets to a certain age, there are certain kind of fights they just have no interest in, even if they believe they are going to win. A Margarito fight would have been tough, physically rough, & a grind. I think Oscar was looking for a fight where both guys box & leave with minimal damage. That shyt really backfired on him.

Maidana is sitting in the cat bird seat because of the difficulty he gave Floyd and the dearth of opponents that Floyd has that are PPV worthy match-ups.
I am pretty much 99.9% sure that Floyd/Maidana will be happening in September.

Ain't gonna happen, TMT will duck the rematch with Maidana at all costs. Plus, who wants to see Floyd clinching and holding every 20 seconds again? Like many, I had Chino winning the first contest. TMT should show some backbone and give that amigo a rematch in September.

Yeah breh, it was a clear duck move. I actually thought Oscar/Margarito was an even fight at the time so when Oscar avoided dude I was like :what:. I mean if Santos could neutralize dude, I'm sure a past it Oscar could and it's not like he was the smaller man either. At least it wasn't out the question.

Too bad Manny never gets any credit for that win. nikkas re-wrote history and act like Manny was the A-side making Dela Hoya come down in weight. :snoop:

oscar prolly thought there was no money in that fight..or at least not the amount of money oscar-cotto would have brought in had cotto got past margo to make it worth his while...it would have been an interesting fight indeed

Been looking for that footage for years... To this day I remember saying "I cant believe this nikka is really crying like this" over and over...

Whats your thoughts on Chino/Ghost though?? Is Ghost still trying to sit untilnhe gets a Floyd rematch too??

You would be looking for the footage of Floyd crying. :mjlol:

But nah son played himself with that shyt. Had a nikka like :dahell::snoop: Definitely wasn't a good look.

I think Chino sits out for the rest of the year if he doesn't get the rematch. The only people I see him fighting where he can get a mil+ pay day is Khan or Broner. So he might fight one of them early next year, but I honestly think he means what he says about not fighting unless it's a Floyd rematch.

But this is boxing and when that money starts getting lower an other nikkas start making bigger names for themselves dude might get anxious to fight again. Who knows for sure. :manny:

Ghost is different. He felt himself too much and knew from then on out that he'd have to fight tough fights like Thurman, Porter, etc...Dude just wanted easy paydays and that wasn't happening. Floyd fukked him up mentally with that schooling. Now dude is rusty as hell from a lay off trying to fight some Japanese Jobber. :heh: Ghost was never that good to begin with. He fought for vacant titles bouncing from one division to the other. He finally hit the jack pot and now he's in a division where he can't cherry pick anymore. He's fukked. At least Chino can still get some good wins out there. I doubt the Ghost even beats Brook at this point in time.

these dudes really change when they see that mayweather money :wow:

and this is why I respect Swift for trying to build his brand and actually become a star before fighting dude. Most of these nikkas lose to Floyd and don't do much afterwards. Canelo was always going to be an attraction. Chino as well, due to how he fights and he KO's nikkas. Ghost and Ortiz really just hit the lottery, well at least Victor tried to go the Hollywood route. Ghost don't have the looks or the personality for that shyt so he has to box.
