For somebody working in American media and academia, it would appear that he was focused on the wrong bag.

There's a branch of jews who have split from the "Israel is NEVER EVER wrong camp" and have set up lobbies, groupsthink tanks,etc to feed their mouthpieces/supporters.
They are the ones who provide cover from the inevitable "you're an anti-semite" shield that jews have hidden under for decades to avoid accountability over actions or criticisms. BDS movement is publicly supported by some of these jews.
