He just got caught. That shyt happens. Besides that shyt he whooped Lopez ass. Pacquiao hasn’t fought anyone in years and Jeff horn beat his ass. I’d be shocked if manny won

Thurman is not that good on the back foot if we keeping it real. Yea he decent but he just ain’t an elite counterpuncher. Plus the only reason he fight on his back foot is that he is scared to get hit. He just flat out fights scary once he feels power turns into runtime too often. That’s not his go to style it’s just his style after he feels some heat. Yea he tough and took some shots but which top guy hasn’t. I’m not trusting a fool who was on their bike against Bundu.

All in all I think Thurman good/average in a lot of areas but elite in none. He doesn’t have that one elite trait that puts him over the edge
But Keith shut him out though, it's not like he had any real trouble with Bundu. He just decided he wanted to box him, and he's said this multiple times :yeshrug:

As for the bolded, I can agree with that. Part of the reason he's like that (aside from the fact that he obviously doesn't like to hit and it's evident) is because of his mentality towards boxing and the scoring system.

Keith looks at boxing as a points system. Score more points (or rounds) then you're opponent, and you win. He treats it like any other sports. In football, if a teams gets off to a big lead in the 1st half, what does that team do? They take their foot off the gas. The slow down the game, basically run the ball and call other plays that will run down the clock and also just play prevent D so that the other team doesn't get any big plays.

That's Keith Thurman to a tee. He starts out aggressive in attempt/effort to collect as many rounds in the bag as possible then just play keep away the rest of the fight. So once he gets hit with a big shot, he immediately takes off in an effort to survive. He plays the clock. I don't necessarily like that method, but I understand it. If it's a close fight like Porter, Keith has shown he can dig down and take shots and go toe to toe when needed. If Pacquiao is aggressive, we could see that type of fight this Saturday.

I think this fight will live up to it's billing and will end in a KO either way :ohwelp:

someone mentioned thurman's check hook, and that will be an important punch, but for a couple of different reasons.

the kind of check hook thurman throws is that nice little step back check hook, but with pacquiao, you really want to turn him with the check hook.

the reason is that a step back check hook keeps you on a straight line instead of pivoting off to the side, and if you stay on a straight line, pacquiao can line you up with his straight left hand, put his head under your check hook, and sneak the left hand inside of it.

i think it was said that thurman will be trying to counter pacquiao on the way in. that, on paper, is fine, but in a fight, it all becomes about who has the best timing and spacing. thurman's check hook will not counter pacquiao's left hand unless he has better timing and spacing than pacquiao, and, it could be the case that, thurman's check hook is what will be countered by pacquiao's left hand, not the other way around. it all will depend on who has better timing and spacing. what is more realistic to me than predicting a knockout, is if thurman's countering will make pacquiao gun shy and let thurman run away with a decision, or, if pacquiao's sneaky timing will make thurman hesitant to counter, causing thurman to drop a decision to pacquiao's unanswered work rate. i think one of the two will be the most likely outcomes.

Thurman looking hella drained :patrice:

It's Wednesday I'd say he's still got 7-12+ pounds to lose, he looks very drained rn, but looks can be deceiving.

Gamblers, who'd ya put $ on and for what (Ko 7 or UD etc etc.) outcome? This one is hard as hell to call.

Good response :ehh:

I just think he barely got away with it the the porters and DSGs of the world so I doubt this strategy works on Pac-Man who is still a top 5 welter and an ATG.

Great fight tho none the less a true 50/50 fight for me.
