Not to change the subject, but with this resigning, you can see just how shrewd Richard Schaefer, Mayweather's people, and Al Haymon are as businessmen, as well as Showtime. Within the past handful of years, they've been setting the foundation in motion to isolate Top Rank, and Manny resigning with Top Rank is pretty much a "Zugzwang". In hindsight, I'm wondering if part of 50's insistence to do a promotional company with Floyd was because he saw the writing on the wall too. Oscar was too busy getting drunk and high and as a result was completly oblivious of Schaefer compromising Goldenboy all the while ensuring his own future if him and Oscar fell out too far beyond the point of no return. 50 saw an opening but underestimated Floyd's loyalty and Haymon's influence. Now his bitter azz is doing photo-ops of himself and Arum embracing one another. Sorry Curly, but the 50 Laws of Power and street corner business acumen don't always work with the suits.
Real talk, the intrigue behind all of these moves is damn near more entertaining than a lot of these fights and potential fights. Folks were playing chess brehs. Haymon and Schaefer are about to declare checkmate.
