Just came in here to say this. 7 episodes in and its trying too hard to be unique and original and failing badly. Im only sticking it out just to see how it ends.
Yea this shyt is trash. I can see why some like it as it appeals to the try hard hipsters.
So if u like hipster shows/movies that tries to tell a deep story in a corny weird twisted way, then this is for u. It tries wayyyy hard and fails badly
Funny thing is ive seen shyt similar to this that were actually decent but this was just bad.
On a side note, i dunno why people like how shows like this are filmed and portrayed. Like save all the corny unique crap and just execute it in a normal way. No one cares that people at starbucks are giving ur shows 10 star reviews and think its a masterpiece because its "different"....thats exactly what this show appeals to
I have just started recapping this show. I have done the first 2 and will hopefully finish the third by tomorrow. I don't watch alot of corny shows so I am enjoying what i have seen so far. Is this the same dude who did the good season of True Detective?
I feel like the show had some moments. Yeah, it's a bit weird, but it got a little better around episode 7, and the later episodes. I feel like some things might have went over my head. I have to check out theories (on the official reddit page or something), and explanations on certain shyt. Sometimes that makes me love a show/movie way more (Mr.Robot, True Detective season 1, Saw series, Inception etc).
The show is like a combo of Legion (like everyone was saying), Inception (of coarse not anywhere near as good), and i feel like a little of "The OA" is in it as well.
I feel like Jonah Hill was trying to do his best Elliot from Mr.Robot impression in this show. Rami Malek would have been a good cast for the lead, hadn't Jonah didn't want the role. Another thing. Why did they wait SEVEN episodes for them to be aware/conscious to the world they were in. I feel they could have done it in 5. I know around that time i literally was saying "Why not let them be aware that it isn't real, it would make the show more interesting".
All in all, the show is ok. Not great, but not terrible imo. I'd check it out if there was a season two, to see where they can go with it. It's a one and done deal though since it's a "TV mini series". This could have been a movie instead, but i understand, they probablly wanted the viewer to have more of a connection to the two leads, and they couldn't do that in 2 hours.
I think. A synth wave score would made some parts pop more
My girl loved the series and all the little motif and call back's
Jonah Hill was okay but some parts wwee comically bad ... he really doesn't have the face for drama or the skills to make you feel he a bit of a danger ..a hint of madness is need for a guy like this
My girl wants us to watch this together, she said i might like it since the trailer made it look like a Black Mirror episode. I dunno tho, yallin here calling it trash?
