I've had real Lemonchello and Black Cherry Runtz (sold a whole bow to a nikka on here years ago) and Mochi. I could tell you those strains by the smell specifically, I ain't gotta know beforehand.

The thing is, those same strains are coming out gassy now. Not every time, but shyt like Black Cherry Runtz ain't supposed to have a gassy smell AT ALL. It's dark, dank, and cherryish. shyt should not be gassy.

That's the shyt I'm tripping about, these dudes are getting bad seeds or the fertilizer ect they are using us making the plants finish up with the same scents.

My shop got a warehouse and I'm cool with the owner, they don't smell like that during the grow.

Something is going on with the grow process.

It's all genetics. That and the specific phenotype determines the terpene profile and it's expression.

The processing (harvesting/drying/storage portion) of it has nothing to do with the complete difference in type of aroma. It can only destroy or enhance the type of aroma already expressed by the phenotype.

It's like having a jar of shyt. You can take all of the moisture out (processing) and the smell will not be as strong, but you're not going to change the fact that it smells like shyt - because it IS shyt (phenotype).

My recommendation would be to do a smell test on the strains you're interested in before you buy OR to try a different dispensary because some will just mislabel strains on purpose to increase sales.

Also, I've noticed that gassy smell being more prevalent these days too. It's a shame.

I grew hydroponically for over ten years - big grows. I always had strains that were unique. Chocolope was one of my favorites.

There’s different phenotypes to these plants though so just because you get a strain from one person doesn’t mean it’s gonna be the exact same from another unless it’s the breeders cut of a clone. Cereal milk and Gary Payton come from the same parents they’re just 2 different phenotypes.

I love Cereal Milk and real Gary Payton has one of the most unique scents to it on the market.

The current problem is their last batch of Gary Payton was gassy. Their last batch of Cereal Milk was legit though. I've had bad batches of GP, they still smelled similar to the phenotype of GP.

Imma just go to another dispo next time I grab some shyt to see if this is a more wide spread problem. I been buying from 1 specific place for like 5 years and never had this problem. Id buy 10 zips at once and they all would be legit/different. I'm not getting that level of difference right now.

Which is corny to me. It ain't all about the THC content. Unless it's infused, the higher strains can be hit or miss. I've had a few strains that were in the high teens low 20s that had me right.

That’s why i don’t mind coppin those Mids on discount. Nikkaz want that high ass THC content where when you take 2 hits, you’re in the fetal position.

I've had Lemon Cherry Runtz and Sour Skittles that smelled more like candy than weed, and they were some of the strongest shyts I ever smoked.

Nah spraying flower with artificial terps is a thing now. From what I seen on the internet it’s kinda biggest in NYC/the northeast but I can for sure see it catching on down south with mfs trying to make a couple extra bucks

Might be the same shyt packaged differently, I remember when I was in vegas and my go to dispensary had a month where half oz was on sale for 70.

shyt was good for a while till all the shyt smoked the same looked at the terps and that shyt was uniformed every half i got, didn't matter if it was indica or sativa, that shyt had the same terp profile.

Also maybe switch consumption methods, I go between dabs and flower depending on the season.
