In the 90s if you were a college player trying to go pro with a history of a torn ACL you'd get the :beli: look from coaches and GMs

step 2. the clean athletes are tearing their ACLs

step 3. the clean athletes start taking PEDs to heal quicker and decide to stay on them.

step 4. the athletes tear down the next gen of athletes.

I'm 28 and I have not been consistently athletically active since the 9th grade when I learned how to sell dope:yeshrug:.

Don't get me wrong, I can hoop, I'm far from a scrub, but I barely hoop 3-4 times a year. It's definitely from not overworking my body, but I NEVER stretch before doing anything and my diet is shytty as hell. I'm guessing my bones weRe not in good shape.

thats crazy man. i'm the same age as you. but i been active almost my whole life in sports. summer time i ball almost everyday after work. Thats crazy to just snap ya shyt planting your foot. Wish you a speedy recovery.

In brazillian jiujitsu the people who get hurt are always coming off a layoff, trying to beast or white belts trying to use too much strength when they do moves. People who dont go with the flow and resist a strong current, get BROKEN.

Combination of things, shoes, fitness and overcompensation

-Shoes are no longer designed to support the natural arch in your foot, and because of that most athletes are flat footed today where 30 years ago the majority of athletes had a natural arch. Lack of arch wears down knee cartilage and weakens tendons
-We put more emphasis on building muscle mass than maintaining lean muscle. Its scary today how many young athletes don't stretch properly before engaging in physical activity. I often suggest a yoga regimen for young athletes
-When a player has a knee sprain or tendinitis or something like that, the player is only being treated for that injury with the goal to get back on the playing field as soon as THAT injury heals. Holistically, the doctor should be looking at the uninjured leg just as closely to watch for signs of overcompensation. Its crazy how many ACL tears occur on the "previously uninjured" limb

Think it's just over usage. Similar thing is happening in baseball with tommy john and the early consensus is too much competitive ball at a young age is causing it. Kids play ball year round, which is wayyyy more of a burdensome schedule then it used to be, at least in baseball. And that mileage catches up.

You have to eat better sweetie. Your people have high blood pressure problems already , so ribs and fried chicken every day is not going to help. Get one of your baby mothers to "hook you up" with some greens once in a while. I don't agree with your career choice, but if you're going to do something don't you want to be the best at it? How are you going to successfully run from the police if your malnourished legs are too weak to juke and cut through alleys and hurdle crackheads?
