Hybrid is the best tbh. I don't mind going in (though I wish it was reversed and I was going in twice a week). Sometimes, I actually need to speak/go over shyt in person with my team, rather than do it through teams. There have been instances where we went through something on Teams and I'd have to do it again in person because some people weren't really paying attention.

Teams has a record feature. It's mandatory for us, for instructive calls. If it's a more casual chat I'm recording on my devices cuz my attention span in presentation has been trash since high school. This is key, people think im so smart and grasp ish with little direction. Little do they know I refer back to recordings and screenshots A LOT lol....cuz I also hate asking questions

But yeah there's always going to be times where you have to repeat and train. Not a good reason to go in the office if you ask me. We have technology for that lol

But today we had breakfast catered for international waffle day....now that's a reason to go in the office :pachaha:

Already back home before the schools let out tho. That's key

That's called settling lol.
If someone is searching for work
80% hybrid/in-office
20% remote

But if you’re already WFH, why care about competition coming in to take your job?
It's more about a next job than the current one. All the people I see struggling to find work, I'm betting the fact that folks from Boise, Omaha and Miami who are just as capable as you are all applying and interviewing for the same roles as you isn't helping you out. Also, it becomes very easy to apply for a new job while you have one, so that's more competition there.

I love the setup I have where I'm remote and only come in the office if I chose to, but I'd rather be able to find work like it's 2018 than it be where it is now.

Truth is Jamie said nothing off base here.

Much easier to spec, design, test, create, and build in-person.

Tech companies figured this out and invested heavily in campus based environments (Google Bay View, Meta HQ, etc.).

There is no substitute for the skills gained by working with other world-class talent (slightly entitled geniuses) in an office.

Wonder how many MAGA morons pushed for RTO and now want to change it up.

Both can be true. It's much better to live within walking or biking distance to the office. It's often better to work in more open spaces and so on.

But overall, much more productive to work in a collaborative office or campus environment.

No need to work in an office unless you’re building/designing a tangible product.

Tech companies invested in campus based environments:
Prior to the huge technological improvements that remote work seamless.
Blur the lines of work/home with amazing office amenities to have employees work longer.
Justifies the salary of people/middle managers.

The fact that Trump is definitely pushing it we know its a form of capitalism that leans anti-employee/pro-employer.

This, I feel like two days a week in office would be so much better. I’m not gonna complain because my commute isn’t bad at all. my only complaint is I’m not getting enough rest and I’m sleepy when in office. At home I have all the energy in the world. But I am one of the lucky ones. My in office schedule is perfect and I can get to work in under 25 minutes most days. And if I’m late so be it. Not a big deal.

I still don’t have to go in but have been pulling up to the office 5 (sometimes 6) days because the office is in a great location so it’s strategic and the place is a skyscraper so we have an insane amount of resources.

But I haven’t been to my dept since we moved floors during Rona.

I got my performance review last week and one of my 59 bosses (who by the way moved far Away during Rona) said that he/they wished I came to the office to be around folks in the dept :heh:

Meanwhile, I’m there all the time but purposely go to floors where I’m a stranger so I can do side hustle stuff and do personal networking meetings.

Oh well :yeshrug:

Even on hybrid, I don't think my stress level was this low since college. My mood has overall been pretty optimistic since WFH and work is a bit more fun...and I have time to enjoy life and work on side projects and my business....

Life is good...

Breh so much has changed since March 2020. I was ready to quit because because dealing with these peckwoods and sitting amongst these busters had me dreading coming in.

5 years later people come and go from the company. That’s corporate life. Folks got married or had kids. Some people even died because it’s a huge company in a 50 floor building. It’s whatever.

Stress level went up and down and up and back down and of course any company is within their right now to tell everyone to bring their asses back. But unless it’s JP Morgan, even these managers and bosses want flexibility in their back pockets for their own selfish reasons to not come in 5 days.

I’m like whatever.

For any Breh in corporate, unless you are trying to emulate Bill Bojangles you’re always at the mercy of the company so get in, get that bread, get out and don’t get washed.

I keep on telling my girl, if she comes to the public sector eventually she's gonna have to work 5 days in the office. Right now we're at 2 days and management just got the word they have to be in 4 instead of 2.

I feel like next year when we sign our Hybrid Agreements, they're gonna say all workers need to be in for a minimum of 3 days.
