My workplace recently decided to take a hard stance on going hybrid. Previously, it was in office whatever three days you want, with most teams making one specific day mandatory depending on whatever their situation is. However, enforcement was a little light, and whether you even needed to show up was entirely dependent upon what team you work on. And even then, there were folks only asked to come in one or two days that didn't show up.
So now, each tean is coming up with bullshyt reasons that we all NEED to be in office three days at minimum, and everyone's hard implying that coming in three days is seen as doing the bare minimum. All because the entirety of leadership is people who've been in their spots forever, and couldn't figure out how to adjust over the last three years.
I'm remote status. They're forcing hybrid workers to come into the office 3 times a week.
There was an all hands meeting this morning, and one of the questions was regarding subsidizing the high cost of parking downtown (it's $40 plus taxes a day). You know what the VP said? "Yeah we're not going to offer any benefits, you're just gonna have to find a way to come in".
Basically, "fukk y'all".
It's the absolute cruelty of these fukks being insistent on RTO. No concern for employee welfare or being accommodating. Just this nonsense on "in person collaboration" and "feels good to see faces again".
That's pure clown shyt. I'm assuming most of the workforce there isn't making $40/Hr, so he's basically asking people to work for an hour or more for free, since that pay is essentially going to cover the cost of showing up in the office in the first place. The fukking audacity.
