Yeah, I'm definitely thankful for my current job. Knowing that if I get this shyt it most likely won't be for a dumb reason like simply going to work.

Are you guys struggling with getting people to come in for the interview? My lady works in HR in a different situation (WFH isn't an option at all for just about anybody there), and the problem isn't getting applicants, it's been getting them to actually show up for interviews/orientation.

we have all kinda jobs. some WFH, some are in person. I'm in healthcare, so if ur a nurse, u gotta work in the hospital most times. although we have some nursing positions that are WFH as well. I have 2 nurses on my team and they are remote just lie me.

anything related to technology for the most part can be done from home. but there's also IT people that work on site. it just depends on the role.

as for getting people to come in to the interview, I dunno. I have been getting people's resume's and referring them. but part of the problem I notice, is I'll refer someone, and then they don't even apply for the fukking job :snoop:

She's going through that on the bolded, too. One of her friends still works retail, and she'a been trying to put him on at her workplace. He'd be switching to HR so it'd be a desk job, and he'd make something like 33% more than he's making now per hour with a steady schedule, and he's been dragging his feet for like seven months. It's baffling.

a lot of people are inherently lazy. like my homie's stepson is 24, and he needs a job (got fired in sep), and I referred him, and I didn't see he applied. he at the crib doing nothing right now, when he could be making money.

Nah. Can't get with that. Not when there's office jobs out there now where you can damn near get paid to do the exact same thing.

on top of that, his last job was working in the field for comcast. if he comes to my job, he'll make more money than he did there. and like you said, he will either work from home or at least be indoors.

There are companies (like the one I'm at now) who have no plans to ever be back in person again. They are killing offices as soon as lease renewals come due. Employees based out of each of those offices are then officially designated remote.

There are benefits to companies going 100% remote. That lease money is going to go towards 'Work from Home' equipment reimbursements, home gas and heating bills, internet and phone (all tax write offs of course), shared workspaces, and to travel so teams can organize quarterly in different states at shared office spaces. They are going to save a lot of money not having to provide California specific HMO too. As they are probably going to keep only a Midwest office open and bounce from CA.

There are drawbacks too (just look at nikkas in this thread lol). I know for sure that Google, Apple and other companies putting the pressure on definitely have the internal numbers to back their intentions to move back in office. But other companies like mine and Facebook don't think the small loss of productivity and collaboration is worth the headaches of forcing people back.

Employees should have a pretty good idea of where their company stands by now. Whenever I read the "I bought a house in the South but my company is making me move back to NY" stories I just shake my head in disbelief. My mortgage comapny made me provide a letter saying I never had to go back.
I’ve said this before, but allowing your employees to WFH cuts back on paying ridiculous monthly rents, and decreases the chance for workplace sexual harassment and violence, which will bring major lawsuits. It’s a no brainer in my opinion.

So glad I’m permanently WFH now :wow:

Only downside is we are now invisible so mass layoffs can happen via Zoom anytime they want for any amount of a workforce for any company. They can outsource the fk out of us if they want to, which is my prediction for next decade. Luckily me and my wife will have juuuust missed that boat heading into retirement in our 50’s.

That’s why it’s prime time to get those finances in order, reduce debt, and pick up a side gig if your WFH job allows you the time. I’m trying to retire in my 50’s as well.

Yeah I’m well on the way. We are about 2 weeks from signing on a mortgage for a 4200sqft house but we own our first house so we have options to sell or rent

Bout to be 2.5 yrs. Only been in the office twice.

I’m washed like shyt. Still listening to playlist from 2 yrs ago. Looking for reasons to dress up. I’m up in CVS dressed in Fear of God sweats & sacai waffles. I don’t know any new music, brunch spots, etc.

Every morning is the same:unimpressed:. Log in, Watch morning news (local), Watch the 3&4th quarters of last nights game, meetings until 11:30 (depending on the workload), take an edible and shower.

I miss work for the social aspect :jawalrus:
